Well, my dad hasnt had a day off in over a month. His boss doesnt even give him vacation weeks like other jobs do. He's been very, very cranky lately and he definitely cant go on like this. He works 15hrs a day, 7 days a week. Is it possible he can sue his boss?

He is entitled to over-time pay, and it depends on your state's laws to determine if he is being worked too much, but to the most part the answer is no, because our troops are working 24hrs a day in Iraq for as many days as they are there, so more than likely he either continues as needed or finds a new job. It sucks to work every day but it is a choice to continue working there, and most companies have to approve days taken for vacation, so it is not always when you would like them.

It actually depends on the laws for where you are at whether or not he can take his boss to court over this. Infact, the proper thing to do would be to request a day off or vacation time first.

This is what's wrong with our nation. You are complaining that your dad is working, and think your dad should sue his employer because he is working? On what grounds would he sue? Because he is cranky?

You're dad can request a day off. He could quit his job. He could take his boss to court, but he'd lose his case.

Don't fall into the "entitlement" trap. No one is entitled to anything. Life is something we work to improve. No one owes you/your dad anything.

Nah he can't. He's the boss and anyone under him are pretty much slaves. Your dad should find another job that he actually loves to do if he's fed up with the work he's doing.

Depends where he is, and what he does.

In "most" states an employer can require "most" employees to work as much as they feel like asking them to, and fire them if they don't.

Most employees, though, are entitled to overtime. According to some surveys as many as 80% of salaried employees in the US whose employers have told them they're not entitled to overtime actually are.
