Making restaurants and public places smoke free is the best thing we ever did. Non smokers have just as much right as smokers and non smokers are in the majority. lf someone wants to kill themselves with lung cancer let them do it themself in private. The rest of us don't want the second hand smoke. Now that the bowling alley is smoke free I don't have to come home and throw all my clothes, from my coat to my underwear jn the wash as soon as I get home. Casinos should be smoke free too unless you want to have separate casinos for smokers. Many people like to gamble but don't want second hand smoke either.

I don't know where YOU live, but in NEw York State, it has been against the law to smoke in ANY PUBLIC building---office, restaurant, bar, casino, even open baseball fields (like Yankee and Shea Stadium), for several years now....it seems that businesses have NOT suffered the loses they were ANTICIPATING as now more NON-smokers attend these places now then before the law went into affect... and, once we got used to it, (the smokers).... it wasn't so bad--EXCEPT at work on cold days in January... I do NOT like the fact that "BIG BROTHER" is always dictating what we can and cannot do, but I have to admit that the no smoking law in public places HAS ended up being a very good law... and I smoked for 35 YEARS quiting just about 14 months ago.

The issue is the equal protection law that is in the U S Constitution. When you have a law, it has to be applied to everyone equally. The casino exemption only shows that they have clout due to money. I don't think that there should be such a law at all. The thing is that people have the right not to enter in building where smoking is taking place. The government on the other hand should have no right to tell a business owner who they can allow and what they can allow to take place.

It should be the owners decision when it is an adult business such as bars, private clubs and casinos. An adult can make the decision to go to a smoking or non-smoking business. I have no problem with it anywhere else. BTW the casinos are not exempt. They have to go non smoking also, but I would not be surprised if this changes.

OH yea! The smoke free law has been really good for the bar and restaurant business in my area!

Heck, in just my county the employees of three bars and two truck stops have been fully protected from second hand smoke in the workplace. The bars and truck stops they worked in closed down due to lack of business!

Yep! Fully protected from second hand smoke AND tips, and wages and health insurance! Smoke free was a great idea for them!

I wonder if the wizards who came up with this law realized what they were actually doing?

No I do not think "smoke free" laws are good. I personally do not smoke, but this country turning into a police state with too many laws that invade our personal freedom. I think businesses themselves should have the right to decide if they want to be smoke free or not. If you want to smoke, go to the smoking bar, if you don't want to smoke go to the non smoking bar. Also, casinos have non smoking sections for those who don't want to be exposed to it.

Casinos won't be exempt from this law for long. Its only a matter of time before we will not be able to smoke anywhere but the privacy of our own homes. America, home of the free... that's becoming a lie.

they're already smoke-free, the bars are gonna be next & I won't go to the bars like I do when they're non-smoking (whenever I drink, I smoke the most.) -I don't know if the casinos ever go non-smoking.

I think they should have smoking sections. I am not a smoker, but I do know some and when your at their houses they light the hell up whenever they want. Which is annoying, but it makes me realize how much it means to them. A well vented smoking section.

I think all places open to the public should be smoke free. It is very simple to me - Everyone can breathe clean air but not everyone can breathe smoke-filled air. Therefore, smoke somewhere other than public places or better yet, don't smoke at all.
