We live in an area where a babysitter is extremely hard to find. And so are jobs that have flexible hours. So we finally found one that can watch the kids, since we both work night shifts. Now this babysitter has been telling us she can't watch the kids as early as an hour before we have to go to work, at least once a week, and the other day she told us, "oh yeah my daughter had lice about two weeks ago so your kids might have it too."

If it comes down to it we might pursue pressing charges for lost wages. My argument is that she had a verbal agreement with us to watch the kids five days a week, and cancelling at such unreasonably short notice caused us to lose wages we could have worked, and because we're seen as "not as dependable" as other employees due to this, our reputations at work are damaged as well. Do we have a case?

If not, is there another course of action I could pursue? We're currently trying very hard to find another evening babysitter with no luck.

My payday is on Friday. I have direct deposit to my bank in Texas, (I live in Ohio) it's my bill paying account. It has really good benefits, that's why I use it. I have a local bank here in Ohio for spending money. So when I got to work last Friday, there was a sign up saying no one got their direct deposit, which I figured out when I called to listen to my bank info on the way to work. So we were given checks, and not till like 10am. So now I had to put the checks in the ohio account and wait for them to clear, which probably won't be until tomorrow. Meanwhile I had automatic payments (3 of them) scheduled to come out of the Texas account Friday. I will be hit with double fees from my bank, plus the payee.

Should my employer be responsible for reimbursing me the fees because this was as a result of the company's error?

Are they legally obligated to since I have had direct deposit for years?

Is it worth the trouble, or just a waste of my time, & cut my losses?

Hi,

To make a long story short. A collection agency started to communicate with me in November 2007 about an open balance with a doctors office back in November 2001. Since 2005 that doctors office company was bought by another one. All my doctors are still the same. I just called my current doctors office and they are telling me that I do NOT have any open balance.

So what do I do? Also, is it legal for a collection agency to claim a balance due 6 years ago? The balance is for $180. I also contacted my insurance company and they can't go back on their records at that date.

So currently, I have nothing to prove... or do I ?

Thanks

My sister has a great idea for a celebrity doll, and she makes her own "customized" dolls all the time that are very professional looking.
She wants to mail one out to this celebrity or to their company as a prototype. I'm worried that they will see it and take her idea. Should she get a copyright or some form of legal work done before she mails a prototype?
Also, where should she mail it to? The celebrity's managment company?
Any legal advice would be great
Thanks

Our housemate is asking for £30 for the phone bill. However he says he's paid the money already but hasn't received a statement as he pays monthly but receives bills every 3 months. He's been known to lie before about money so were wary.

We have said we'll happily pay the money just as soon as we see the statement. Even if it's just a print out of his online statement. He's refusing to show us this saying he doesn't have one.

Do we have to pay before seeing the statement?

in short...what happened was I went to the CEO and brought my concerns about my boss to her attention. the CEO then spoke to my boss about my concerns (since my boss' carelessness has now jeopardized funding for my program)...after her meeting with the CEO she has been isolating me and very short with me....yesterday I overheard her "venting" to the Director of Grants about me...I thought that was considered defamation since there is no reason for the Director of Grants to know...but I'm not sure.

I recently started working for a company as a salaried employee. I'm guaranteed my 40 hours a week. My supervisor pressures me into working 12, 13, 14 hour shifts and I only get paid for 8 of those hours. He submits my timesheets before my week ever starts for 40 hours. I know the State of Texas and the US government has laws to protect salaried employees. What are the laws against working salaried employees over there 40 hours? Because I am going to HR to get some answers soon and I need some ammo to fight with. If there were no laws we would all be on salary. Companies would make us work 100 plus hours every 2 weeks and only pay us for 80. So I know there are some laws.

I am in management (female) and I am friendly with all my employees . Sometimes I would go out with some of them (female and/or male) to eat or whatever after work which can be quite late. Recently I have become good friends with a few of them and we spend a lot of time chatting and texting each other which is done off the clock. Well one of the employees girlfriend called my supervisor telling him that we are in a sexual relationship and I am destroying their relationship and he (my supervisor) needs to do something (fire me). She saids she has evidence which is probably phone records and pictures (she admitted to following me). My supervisor documented this and wants me to take care of it or else he would. As a result he just quit and I think that should be the end of it but she still calls my supervisor because she wants to see me punished. I am feeling harrassed and worried. Is there anything I can do to fight back? Can I do something to prevent her from causing trouble.

YA regularly deletes questions and or answers by saying they violate community guidelines. Fact is, I have seen many deleted that, in fact, did not violate any guidelines whatsoever. We have no recourse except to appeal to the bot program that deleted the question or answer and get an automated response. Questions and answers get deleted because they get reported, much the same way the nazis did in pre wwII Germany. The US constitution gives citizens the right to face their accusers, YA does not give us that right, therefore are violating the constitution in the country in which they operate, provided California is still in the USA. Any of you constitutional lawyers want to take YA to task and give our citizens their constitutional right to know who is falsely reporting, as well as who are reporting justly. There are some who have been and are still being targeted maliciously for their views, opinions, religion, and national origin. This is not what made out country great.
