I don't want to hear about 'government' HEALTH CARE'...the issue is INSURANCE. Obviously the market can't provide this essential service and 'emergency rooms' have to get paid from someone so that's no solution. Exactly what are we going to do about this? Universal single-payer HEALTH INSURANCE seems the best bet. Doing nothing seems like the worst bet. Remember, its INSURANCE were talking about here, not CARE!

Cary, North Carolina-Private school. My friend was texting in class and his phone was taken. The school said that they had the 'right' to read the text messages because they had taken the phone. Following this I was questioned by the administration, who didn't follow proper procedure found in the handbook, and I was told that 2 people had admitted that I had supplied them with cough medicine. I was suspended for the rest of the day and the following day and I came to find that no one had ever said anything about me they just went with what the texts said, but do keep in mind I did not supply anyone with anything. Would I have been suspended for Tylenol? So my question is even though I am almost 18 an its a private school, were any of my rights or my friends rights violated? Any of the amendments such as the First, freedom of speech, or the Fourth, protection against unreasonable seizures, even though they had reason to take his phone but not to read the texts.

Thanks yall

If a person is not old enough to drink then they should also be considered CHILDREN when it comes to being "conned" into the forces. No CHILD should be allowed to join the army airforce or marines. they are considered children until they come of age.... 21. So listen up, Mr Bush, please have the legal age of consent raised to 21 for ALL activities and keep our children safe. There's the ONE good thing you Could do for this nation before you give up the throne.
Save the children, there are thousands of MEN out there who are over 40 and yet willing to die for their country and would willingly re join the forces if you'd let them, without taking 18 year old children and putting a gun in their hands.

I watched Michael Moore's new movie Sicko.. "A Must See". I have to tell everyone,, "I am embarrassed about the America Health Care System". I am not a Moore fan. However, his movie highlights what private market health care does to families that have worked their entire lives only to find themselves broke and bankrupt in their golden years. It was totally unbelievable to see this movie. What can be done? We need to push for socialized medicine. We need to put the money in the Doctors and Patient’s pockets. Not the, insurance and pharmaceutical companies. We Don’t Need Insurance Companies making Millions from claim denial. Why is America so oblivious to this monopoly? I am just beside myself, I have to start doing something or I will find myself and family in the same situation as so many others in America!

My niece works Friday night and Saturday night at a local restaurant in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She is 16 years old trying to make some pocket money. She gets A$7.13 per hour. Is this the right level of pay? Shouldn't she get paid more as a casual waitress and works weekends? What about casual loading and weekend rates?

(i mean, mainly in presidential elections)

why treat only the symptoms of the real problem: sex all over tv and advertising? (ok, so money would be my guess) once the baby is made, how is your life then up to the public?

im not really one way or the other:
1)girls have to live with the fact they got an abortion, so they obviously justified it to themselves, and they will have to deal with their choices, which is all that matters.
2)it's not like theres a shortage of babies.

so, really, why add this pointless debate in an already pointless wealth-driven debate?

(that's great if you've formed a strong opinion on abortion, pro life or choice, but plz keep it to yourself, b/c no one cares, i promise)

have they still been Mirandized in the eyes of the law?

Example- A normally intelligent person is so inebriated, they just say anything and everything during the arrest and agree to be questioned, and again, say all kinds of nonsense, now which is all completely admissable in court.

Saying that this is an isolated incident is a copout, especially since this town is a cross roads town with lots of passerbyers

This law doesn't apply to criminals btw

"It was passed partly in response to a 1981 handgun ban in Morton Grove, Illinois. Kennesaw's law was amended in 1983 to exempt those who conscientiously object to owning a firearm, convicted felons, those who cannot afford a firearm, and those with a mental or physical disability that would prevent them from owning a firearm. It mentions no penalty for its violation."

I was in my high school's library during lunch when a business call came in. I am starting a company, and on the other side was a venture capitalist calling. I answered the call, taking it outside (it would've run out by the time I got out, and she isn't known for answering calls), but had the phone confiscated. My iPhone has confidential venture capitalist files and data on it, and the executive director said that it was illegal for them to confiscate the property, which her lawyers justified as larceny, which is registered property of the Silicon Valley Venture Capital Roundtable. Their rationale is since I had answered the call, I was, according to my contract, on company time and thus at the time of confiscation, an employee on public property. Does this follow through? I'm in California under the Fremont Union High School District, in case any specifics need be cited. I'm trying to keep this from escalating, but I want to know if the case is rational and legal before getting in.

Okay, here's the deal. A co-worker and I were vying for the same promotion a few weeks ago. When I got wind that he was getting it over me, I quietly pulled my boss aside and informed him that said co-worker had been known to drink on the job. It was the complete truth, but I had been afraid of revealing the information because I didn't want any workplace drama. However, I felt that he did not deserve to be promoted under such circumstances.

Of course my boss was shocked, and got a few other employees to corroborate my story. Unfortunately, the boss is a bit...well, inept, and somehow between me telling him and him telling the district manager, names got mentioned. The employee in question was put in a "quit or be fired situation," so he of course quit. Here's where it gets complicated.

(To be continued in details...)

I know having emergency flashers is totally illegal and I have no desire to install them. However, I would really love to paint my car black and white complete with bumpers. I am doing this NOT out of mockery for the police, but out of respect for the police. I really like the look of a police car and always fantasize being behind the wheel of one of those vehicles.
