It is legal to have the camera on the floor of the work area. Well within the employers rights. In the restrooms may be a violation. This has been in courts for retail stores many times. If they do not have a view in the stalls though, and the employees are aware that the cameras are there it is probably quite legal.

i would really have to say it depends in which country, and sometimes even in which state you live in to be 100% accurate with the answer. but generally speaking, it would be illegal to have a camera installed in the toilets (even if it isnt pointing at the cubicles) as it is a breach of privacy (whether the toilets are public or in a private building). however, most companies and businesses are allowed to have to cameras installed on the floors watching their workers. most of them are to ensure that their employees aren't stealing from them but since your working in a call centre i dont see what you could steal... unless it was a phone or something.

Where are you working? bulgaria?

Actually i've heard of these in some countries where cameras are installed above the doors and only facing the mirrors and the washing area. Usually the toilets are on the other side and not visible from the cameras angle. A lot of high security places have these and all employees are made aware of it and some are probably made to sign contracts.

Its very likely to be a dummy camera. Crimes take place in the toilets as people think theres no cameras there. Bosses are using dummies as visual deterents, but we are not meant to know that.
However it may be real, it is illegal to record you in the toilet cubicle, BUT in the sink area it is legal to film IF it is during work time/office hours. So they can see who's skiving....

if its in the UK i would say yes. even having cameras in the workplace has to be justified as they can contravene your human rights, so for example if there was a lot of theft they could set one up to find the culprit and only then for a set amount of time, then it should be removed. but if they tried to use the images to show something else like somebody not working hard or been late back from a break then this is against your human rights. absolutely nobody should be able to view the images apart from the camera operator and he should only report actual crimes to his supervisors. Using cameras to spy on workers for petty things is a crime in its self

Shop floor, no. Toilets hell yea. I would take photos of the cameras and their location and then report it to the local paper as "Company bosses perv on workforce". All call centres treat their staff as cannon fodder. Complain and lose your job or do as all the rest and become a sheep. Me I would complain all day every day.

It is not illegal to have cameras in the area where people work but as far as in the bathroom I think that is illegal. If I found a camera in any bathroom I would report it!! There has even been a mass lawsuit for a company having cameras in the bathroom!

It may not be illegal, but it's morally wrong to have a camera in the toilets.

I am guessing you are not in the USA. Here it is legal and so would a camera recording you at work. Anyplace here where you have no expectation of privacy can be photographed legally.
