If you have movie channels, you are perfectly legal to record movies off of them, you can use a TIVO or a DVR to copy them, too. You are not allowed to re-broadcast or make money off of it, but you can legally copy it.

However, if you rent a movie, you cannot copy it, even if you do not re-broadcast or not make any money.

Does anyone know the rationale of this?

First I have to say, because I feel so vilainized by this, I did not, would not, will not, ever in my life, physically abuse a woman. I find the act of abusing a woman, or even violence (unless in self defense) appalling and inexcusable, which is why I am devastated by this claim.

Long story short, my ex filed a frivolous domestic violence claim against me. She wanted an injunction against me in place for a year going into the hearing and when I showed up with witnesses she immediately decided to dismiss it.

No charges or police involvment, no arrest, no evidence, just her claim in which she doesn't even state any violence, because there was none. Now this hearing for domestic violence is on my public records. I'm devestated by this, my character is very important to me and I have no criminal record whatsoever. I can prove she lied and seriously exagerated, etc. And show a motive for her actions. I'm now suing to prove my side. If I win, can this be removed from my records?

I'm the manager of my store I'm new at this and I have a slight issue. One of my employees I beleive is trying to take my place as the manager shes slowly trying to get my assistant manager fired and move her way up in a vicious manner. Shes a drama queen and likes to start problems because she has nothing better to do. None of my employees like her shes annoying and pretty rude. The owner likes her slightly but shes not really that great of an employee but shes alright she twists things in her benefit with them thats why they like her. I don't want to just fire her right off the bat because I think that might raise some questions with the owners. shes quite manipulative and will do anything in her power to get what she wants. How do I break it to the owner that she needs to leave?

There is a local pastor who chases homeless people away with a shotgun (yes really a shotgun) i believe that the shotgun is actually his and is registered but he chased homeless people who only sat under the roof when it either got too windy, it was snowing or raining. they done no harm they were hidden from the public (backdoor) and they didnt do really anything or even urinate or anything. does the pastor have the right to chase homeless people away like that? what can be done?

I have a "no contact" order with the "victim" (a family member I've been living with my entire life.)
So I have to move out because living with them is obviously a violation of "no contact."
My problem is the ONLY place I could possibly move is with some family in New Jersey...I live in Florida.

So when they tell me I can't have contact with the victim anymore, they're going to say "You need to move out." But I know the rules of probation...you can't LEAVE the state..let alone MOVE OUT of it. If I move to NJ before they kick me out of my house, I'll have to come back to FL for the rest of my court dates, and then I might be stuck here with all my belongings there once they tell me I'm on probation.

Any help?

Not sure what to do! I just had a minor accident with a pedestrian who walked out in front of my car. I bumped the man and he fell on the road. I asked if I should call the police or an ambulance and he said he could tell he was fine and if I could just drive him home. We exchanged details at his house where his wife, the man and I left on good terms, recognising it was both our faults this happened. He said not to worry - he had been in far worse situations and was fine. What else should I do? I wrote out the details of what happened and emailed them to myself so that there is a record of the time and details of the incident. I said to the man who was hit I would call him later today to see if he was ok.

She had another near-meltdown over the weekend, yet another indication of serious anger management problems. We all know she is an habitual liar and has delusions that she is somehow above the law. Is it not time that a serious mental evaluation of this person is done and made public?

Just watched programme about children going missing in China. Is this linked to the 1 child policy?
70,000 kids are stolen each year by traffickers selling them on.
Since the 1 child policy was introduced, 40 million baby girls have been aborted because boys are more valuable to the family.
The chinese govt. doesn't want outsiders knowing this and covered it up when applying for the 2008 Olympics.
Is there really a relationship between these figures and the policy?
Opinions please.

I'm currently losing a job because of mental health issues. I have not threatened anyone. I am suffering severe depression and borderling post-traumatic stress disorder. When my boss learned of this, she wanted my resignation that day.

From my understanding, this violates the Illinois interpretation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which covers serious mental illness. I also want to stress that I've never been a threat to anyone except myself.

Did these problems interfere with my job? Yes. I can't deny that. But my understanding is that under local law interpretations, she is obligated to let me get help and work at improving my job performance.

So I guess my question is should I consider legal action, or should I just move on. I should discuss this with a lawyer, but I wanted to know (educated) opinions on here before I move in that direction.

i started a new job in mid april of this year, then at the end of june i had an accident at home that left me unable to work for sometime. I had mrsa, and blood poisioning and required surgery and 2 months of physical therapy for a deep wound to my heel. my company (an industrial company) paid my insurance disablitlity short term and was starting on long term when I told the doctor that "I really needed to get back to work" And while I was on disablity, I was promoted to an office job so I wouldn't be out in the field (eg dirty refinery). Today was my first day back to work and at the end of the day, my boss called me into his office and told me that "I had not fulfilled my 90 probation, and that I was fired". I understand that since I had not worked for this company for 1 yr, I was not entitled to FMLA, but also, since I was on medical leave (prescribed my my infectious dis doc, wound doc and surgen) it seems to me that my 90 day's would be "on hold".

I am staying at a Marriott in San Antonio Texas for over 30 days and my car has been broken into in a well lit parking spot which seemed safe at the time. There are signs that are posted that says Marriott is not responsible for personal property left in vehicles. However, Is Marriott at all responsible or liable for my personal property in my vehicle which was stolen or for my $500 deductible which I must pay to my insurance company to get a couple thousand dollars worth of damages fixed? As a company, I would expect them to comp my stay or provide some form of monetary gesture. So far they have offered me 10k marriott rewards points which can barely get me 1 free night if I pick a sub standard facility. What are the rules against this type of thing and what sort of rights am I able to exercise?
