I'm the manager of my store I'm new at this and I have a slight issue. One of my employees I beleive is trying to take my place as the manager shes slowly trying to get my assistant manager fired and move her way up in a vicious manner. Shes a drama queen and likes to start problems because she has nothing better to do. None of my employees like her shes annoying and pretty rude. The owner likes her slightly but shes not really that great of an employee but shes alright she twists things in her benefit with them thats why they like her. I don't want to just fire her right off the bat because I think that might raise some questions with the owners. shes quite manipulative and will do anything in her power to get what she wants. How do I break it to the owner that she needs to leave?

Encourage other employees to let the owners know how they feel (about her or otherwise).
Also, encourage customers to communicate both with you AND with the owners about their experiences in the store.
The feedback can be invaluable!

You already know what the intent is so you need to take the bull by the horns. Saying nothing will get you nowhere.

You were hired and put in the position to be manager for a reason..... to look after the owners interest. Telling him is doing your job. Take out the personal nobody likes her part out of the equasion. You feel that this persons actions are disruptive to the employees and operation of the store. You are making him aware of the situation or a potential one.

He would not like to be blindsided if it all blows up. The girl quits and sues. The asst. manager quits and sues. A customer gets ticked off and that coulod cost money.

That's where the owner needs to do his job. He needs to speak to the asst. manager. Later if there is an issue he will know that this is not just a knee jerk reaction when you go to him then.

You should have said what kind of job it is.

If you think she is up to no good, or she is violating company policy, you need evidence. You can not just fire her without just cause because then she will come back on you.
