Again, many many good answers already.

One that hit me right off is MicroSoft and Bill Gates. They have billions and billions of dollars, and do what they want in the US, even to forcing the Government, by threat and coercion, to make them exempt from anti-trust and similar laws that all their competitors have to obey.

I am glad the European Common Community has called them to rights, and refused, so far, to be swayed by money or by threats.

Many Congressmen seem to be above the laws, and they seem to hook little riders on laws to keep themselves that way, tho occasionally some really egregious slip catches one.

They are above the Social Security laws all the rest of us have to suffer under!! For an example.

The Gambling industry seems to be above the laws, too, in many cases. Again, money talks.

Obviously Organized Crime is above the laws. Little guys make bad mistakes and get trimmed, but the mob lords make lots of money and are often respected! As in Italy!!

Many Corporate Executives seem to be above the law, since they can afford lawyers to bend and twist the laws to their advantage, and maybe hire a Congressmen or two to help!

As we have recently seen, top Hollywood people are nearly always effectively above the laws, even when there is intense public pressure and outcry! A few others, who are not as popular and pretty, are not!

Chaney was a good example, and remains one. Having said that, I will be very careful never to go hunting with him!!

And most of the illegal aliens here are effectively above the law, since it is not enforced on them, and some of our Congressmen even advocate having them in and staying illegal. One of my Congressmen likes them since they work for his big business friends for a lot less than the Minimum Wage he just raised!!

Finally, our Supreme Court justices seem often to believe they are above the law, as they violate the Constitution they are sworn to uphold, to interpret that freedom OF religion really means freedom FROM religion, and similar strained interpretations to satisfy pressure groups.

And many judges at lower levels take their cues from the Supremes, and also twist the laws to mean what they never said. To generally satisfy small minority pressure groups.

And the list goes on...long ways...as others have noted.

i might say all new child loose persons and couples face intrinsic discrimination is society. i'm Australian and we at present had a universal election for a clean federal government. during the campaigning previous to the election, the politicians on the two facets have been frantically attempting to out do one yet another in merchandising tax breaks and specific money and centers for families and mothers with toddlers. of direction this replace into no distinctive from the different election interior the previous. the factor is that single people subsidize the youngsters of others by using bigger taxation. Govermental rules regard the desires of adults with toddlers to be greater significant that that of childless adults. no one tries to entice the vote of the childless adults, they do no longer seem to be seen a valid demographic or perhaps to point they're is in many cases recognized as something perverse. Politicians have even reported they're unashamedly professional-kinfolk biased of their rules and that's only an admission they're discriminatory (yet in a legal way because of the fact that there are no rules to guard single people as a demographic). i'm childless by employing determination. i've got faith that our worldwide has some distance too a lot of people and many people who call for the perfect to toddlers are extremely egocentric. in the event that they suspect in toddlers lots, why no longer undertake extremely than supply the overburdened planet (and single taxpayers) yet another mouth to freed?

Bush Administration (that may change when they don't have the Justice Dept. to protect them)
But not just them, the lobbyists that come to their aid don't get convicted of bribery (Jack Abramof is the exception that proves the rule).
Foreign Dictators and butchers usually get asylum over here from atrocities in their home countries!
A Major scandal is needed to bring most elitists to Justice.
Like Enron, they need a major bit of Canine Fornication to hit the airwaves. They can spin what they need to most of the time. The spin is usually a portrayal of the matter as a scandalous incident, but it often is an example of business as usual that got caught,

There should be NO ONE above the law. However, we all know that MONEY appears to be the fact above the law. I think that the "brothers of law enforcement" give each other breaks once in awhile. But, not always, especially when country sheriff meets city FBI agents... They do not always smile on their activity or give them a break.

Rockefeller, Rothschild, Kennedy, Chaney, and anyone with the last name with Bush in it. There are a few others, but this is just off of the top of my head.
