A few days ago I received the rudest, slowest, incompetent service at a McDonalds drive thru window. The employee insulted me on a personal level & practically threw the bag of food into my hands. I retaliated but throwing the sleeve of large fries right back at the drive thru window (unfortunately she closed it fast).

Anyway, the next think you know the police arrive at my house - tell me I must go back and apologize to the worker & sock me with a $200 littering fine.

I really did nothing wrong & plan to fight this littering ticket. I plan to plead not guilty & on my court date prepare a defense for myself claiming I tossed the fries out the window to feed the seagulls that normally wait for scraps in the parking lot.

What are my chances of having the fine dismissed?

I have an idea for a computer program/system that achieves very specific ends. I've searched for the last year for an existing program to use with no luck. It occurs to me, as I'm thinking of investing in a bespoke program, whether I should patent the idea.

I read on ipo.gov.uk/patent that it's important not to have told anyone about a patent you are about to file.

During searching and developing the idea, I've emailed a few people on the internet to see if they can help (With no replies, obviously too busy for little me). I've also talked to 2 developers in varying detail about the idea.

How might my prior communications affect a patent request or enforcement thereof?

One of the developers and people I've emailed are in business indirectly related to my idea but one is BLATANTLY in the same game, maybe even competition.

Not sure how to procede as I've basically given the idea to a potential competitor before the date the patent would be filed.

Any help from Pro's/experienced?

Fell asleep behind the wheel and ran off of road resulting in a dui charge. No passengers, personal injury or property damage. After arrest, spent over 1 hour in back of police car on side of road and another 45 minutes at ploice station before receiving breath test which came out pretty high. Booked in and spent the night for 8 mandatory hours. Does the 8 hours count towards the 48 if i am sentenced and should all of the time spent in police car count as well since i was not immediately taken to police station. Also since my breath test was administered so long after being stopped I feel like what i did have to drink had alot of extra time to absorb and my reading probably would have been different if test was given immediately, anyone have any insight on this? Of course i will be checking with an attorney but wanted to see if anyone else had experience in this. any info would be great

My son passed his ASVAB, AIM and medical physical and drug test - but was asked at his medical physical how many times he has smoked pot - and he answered truthfully ... 15 - 20 times. This flagged a pscyhological consult with a private psychologist - and my son told him the same thing. He was all set to go and the recruiter just called and said that he had been DQd for one year by the psychologist. The recruiter said he felt bad because he forgot to tell my son to lie - and say just once or twice. The recruiter told my son that he can appeal this decision by getting and paying for another analysis by a private psychologist. My question is this - does anyone out there have any experience with this - and is it worth his time - or should he just wait one more year??? HELP!

if someone makes an unproven accusation for which they have no evidence...but subsequently the accusation is proved correct, what does the law say? If the accuser genuinely had no evidence and was basing their claims on conjecture, even if they are vindicated eventually, could they still be had up?

For a short while, I was placing some Real Estate signs near properties that were for sale, but I quit that job because the large boards were scratching my car.

The realitor that owned the sign boards told me she would be picking them up back in July, but she never showed up nor called. Then, about a week ago I figured I could sell them or toss them in the garbage because they were taking up too much space on my apartment deck, so I ended up painting them and sold them, about 20 total.

Yesterday that lady who I worked for emailed me and said she wants her signs back and was going to come out to pick them up. I haven't heard from her in over 2 months. I told her I dont have them anymore.

Can she sue me?

I own a postsecondary school and use several books to teach from. In the past I have had my students buy the books but we only use a few sections from each. My question is can I teach from a book the students don't purchase? Can I make copies of the pages we use so they can follow along or read a few sections at home in preparation for class lecture? How does copyright play into this? Thank you for your time. If possible please include a source for your answer!

This butt-clown threw money at the economy like a drunken sailor on shore leave for much of his tenure. He rarely spoke clearly and openly, instead using arcane and BS language disguised as "articulate". The mess we're in has Greenspan's name all over it. And NOW he has the balls to tell the current Fed to be careful in lowering rates to aggressively??? What an ASSHOLE. Some people claim Greenspan is the greatest Fed Chairman ever. Nonsense. That honor goes to Paul Volcker; a man of character, wisdom and courage. I wouldn't hire GreenPussy to handle my kid's piggybank. I feel very sorry for Ben Bernanke who now has to clean up after GreenPussy. I wouldn't want his job for all the tea in China.

Although I am not afraid to give out my SSN to my school, I am very iffy with giving out my SSN to my employer, especially a new employer. It's hard to tell if the company is legitimate, especially if they are a small and/or local company. I have seen some of my friends got scammed before. I am unsure whether their misfortune was due to their own short-coming or the difficulty to detect illegitimate companies. How can you tell if a company is legit or not?

Is it possible to not give out your SSN? My previous employer was really lousy; he lost my paper work which had my SSN on it. Nothing bad has happened to me (yet), but I rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks in advance.

My employer has recently become very strinct on internet access. they haven't got a defined company policy of personal internet use but are abviously now a lot stricter on it. However, I noticed they are monitoring every single user daily to check what sites they are visiting and can block them instantly. Is this a violation of privacy or are they allowed to do this? I don't use the internet for personal use apart from before work if I arrive in early or maybe checking my personal email account at lunch. However I do feel like big brother is watching me!!

Recently my father is involved in a wrongful discharge case. His former employee is bringing him to court over wrongful discharge. Apparently my father ask him to resign because his work performance is not up to par but he refused so my father have no choice but to fire him.

My question is ,does firing the employee because of lack of performance constitute wrongful discharge or does the former employee has a really thin case?

I am worry for my father as i read from the net that the majority of plaintiff win the wrongful dismissal cases. Thanks in advance.

I was hired on with an employer (non-profit) who boasted the flexability of working from home when family sick..set hown hours..etc. During the initial interview w/ this company, I was never told about a merge w/ another company taking place. # months after I start the merge is finalized, I have a new boss, I have to drive 20 xtra miles to and from work, I was told to find alternative daycare that would suit a set schedule, and I am required to work more 45+ hrs per week and I am salaried at 40. All this and more has changed since this merge has taken place. I expressed my concerns with my boss when I first heard of the merge (wanting to keep flexability, etc.) to my face at lunch even, he said "no problem, we have the same values" which has a complete lie!
I feelo like I am being harassed. I was sick one day, and took PTO for another few days to move-and every little thing I use to be able to do , I am being pulled aside getting my *** chewed for! Can I collect benefits ?
