My suggestion is to wait the year. If his job did not require a clearance, he should not have told them anything. However, he did, and he should NOT cause any static to get around this. I remember some people in basic training had problems fro their DI's after similiar circumstances came out of their personnel file.

Did you think to sit down and have a talk with your son prior to all of this happening?
Well, he's d/q as of now, right? You can try to appeal it as the Recruiter suggested however let me advise you that the military is death on drug use these days. 15-20 times translate to being a regular user, you can't come back and retrack that statement now that it has been made. Sit back and wait a year, stay clean and he can at least demonstrate that he's capable of quitting pot.

For starters I think most people answering this question have neither served in the military nor know anything about it. Tell your son to stop being a stoner and straighten up. The military needs people who are focused and determined not people who spend their spare time smoking dope. Tell your son to get a new hobby. Perhaps some psychiatric help is exactly what he needs. Most people who resort to drugs are filling a void in their lives that their parents never did. Is his father absent?

Well, one illegal act certainly doesn't deserve another, does it? I would get the name of that person who told him to lie and ensure that he can never practice or receive a paycheck from the government again. Why would you want to join the military anyway? It doesn't matter how much pot you've smoked if you're dead or severly injured. Besides, the number of U.S. soldiers killed by friendly fire makes me wonder about the qualifications of most of the military these days. If people are told to lie and they do, then perhaps they should be charged with murder when they kill a friendly.

i think of there needs to be a huge distinction between the army better halves that settle for the hassle and proceed to stay and those that don't. i think of any woman that could take care of her husband being away for months at a time and nevertheless effectively and faithfully shelter the enjoyed ones merits appreciate. those that use it as an excuse to have affairs and squander money to sense extra constructive are purely ineffective twits. those that placed on the call of "military spouse" like a badge of honor have ignored what's maximum intense correct to the call. My hat is off to any woman that could stay that existence without self pity or self merchandising.

He may as well wait the year. It would be hard to appeal with another doctors report saying he lied to the first one.
