The felon has shown disreguad for society, why let them take part in society's most important functions?

The real answer is this: if felons could vote, they would vote for candidates that repeal the laws that the felon broke. No law, no crime.

Nixon was a felon. He could vote. Hillary Clinton is a felon. I bet she can vote. I actually don't understand the law that doesn't allow a "former" felon to vote, unless of course they are "famous or rich" felons.
O.J. is allowed to vote. I tend to think he will be allowed to vote again, even after his last felony.
There are people who are upstanding members of our country who were at one time in their lives as kids or young adults, convicted of some trivial crime who are now 75 years old, and for their lifetimes are not allowed to vote for even the president of the United States Of America.
It's a rediculous law, and if you think there aren't some excellent people who were at one time in their lives, in a little trouble, who don't now run this country, then cast a stone.
It's stupid. No American should be hindered from casting their rightful vote, because they made a mistake in their life.
It's crap!

Most felons can restore their right to vote. It takes a while though. The more violent ones though will not be allowed to vote.

i do no longer think of that the shown fact that they seem to be a felon could be represented in ALL factors of their lives. they're nonetheless U.S. voters, subsequently they could have a vote interior the presidential election. I believe "john's son". in the event that they're imprisoned, they shouldn't get to vote because of the fact i do no longer think of they'd fairly be recommended of the data in an election, yet whilst they're out, they fairly could be waiting to have a say.

disqualification to vote and be voted is part of the punishment for convicted felons. Right to suffrage is sacred and only those people whose 'hands are clean' can exercise or invoke it.

Why should they be able to vote?

They couldn't respect the laws so they are going to be able to pick the lawmakers?

That doesn't make sense.

Because back in the old days when society had more impact as a group they didn't want criminals picking their representatives.
