Can my employer sue me for attorneys fees? I was fired from my job and my employer withheld my final pay for over a month. Per the California labor code he owes me 30-days worth of wages as the penalty for not paying on time. If I go after him for the money can he come back afterward and sue me for attorney fees?

Here are the facts; 7 months ago i got into a car accident.
1=I didn't have insurance at the time. (yes i know, stupid)
2=i got t-boned by an F-250 who ran a red light. i had a 4 cylinder camry. the whole left side and beam gone.
3= there was a cop in the traffic with us! he denied he saw anything.
4= same cop DENIED a witness saying that i knew her but never seen her b4!!!
5= there was no ticket issued. NO-FAULT.
6= the F-250 got almost NO damage! the man tied a steel chain to his truck's GRILL then to the street pole and attemted to rip it off right there! just his grill was damaged.
7= I got a notarized, written statement from the witness, which State Farm DENIED!!!
8= 3 months later State Farm sends me a check of almost 3g's. HALF of the estimated damage of my now totaled car.
9= Now a letter telling me i'll be SUED in 30 days if i don't pay $6,300!!!, they'll suspened my license AND ruin my credit!
--- Why would State Farm send me money just to ask for it?

I have a judgement on my record for an unpaid Credit card. I have heard somehow these "People" can take the money out of your bank account. My question is how do they find my banking information? Is there anyway to avoid this happening before I can pay them? And before you ask yes I am working on a budget via the Dave Ramsey program.

I own a first level condo with a balcony. I installed wood pickets
due to having lost $3,000.00 worth in stolen items from it, including 3 bikes. The association sent me 2-3 letters requesting me to remove this pickets as it is not allowed or I would be fined $25.00. To them I responded to my reasoning behind it. The condo is now under contract and the HOA wants to fine me for $2,000.00 at the time of closing because of this. This is unreasonable, and theres is no way i can pay, how can i any ideas as to how i can resolve/dispute this. Thanks!

My husband owes $75, 000 to the State of California in child support arrears and our attorney have offered a compromise to the state of California but the child support agency denied it without sending the application to the State. We would like to pay it off. At present, we are willing to offer about $25,000 to $35, 000 in cash. The Los Angeles office of child support is of no help to us. I think our attorney does NOT know what he is doing as well. We have already taken the case to State Hearing but the judge said the Court of State Hearing has no jurisdiction over compromise of arrears to the State. All this money is owed to the state and not to the parent.

My check was late and I asked him about why and he just started walking away without even acknowledging that he heard me, so I walked after him and said it louder - I KNOW YOU HAVE MY CHECK NOW I'M SERIOUS DUDE, I NEED IT. Then it looked like he was taking out some pepper spray so I started running away. But, now I feel like he needs to be fired because my check came the next day. Advice???

I was involved in an accident in May. It was not my fault. I was hit by a 17 year old boy. 3 out of 4 of the passengers in my car, including myself...were taken to the hospital in ambulances. One of my passengers required surgery on his leg. I had back and neck injuries. My car was totaled. I got a lawyer, and the lawyer got me a settlement for my car. We are now in the stage of getting a settlement on the medical stuff, including pain and suffering. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this, and how much you settled for? To be honest I have no idea whats a fair amount to ask for, or how much people usually get when things like this occur. Any input and answers would be appreciated! The lawyers get 33% of anything I recieve.

We have been living here now for 13 months and have been paying the water bill ever month. If there is this statute we want our money back. Thanks.

I have always been interested in the legal field and new since I was kid that was the career for me. I applied for a C/O position and have my Physical test and Lie detector test as well as my oral interview in a few days. Anyone have some advice? Is there an academy after all I have to do in the upcoming days? What is to be expected? How can I prepare for the oral interview? I already bought 2 books to help prepare and must I say a waste of money (no help). I am not worried about the lie detector more so the physical test and oral interview because you need to pass one to get to the next.. advice would be much appreciated.

Hello,
I was wondering if it was possible to get into law schools with a Misdemeanor Class B (Texas). I have turned in all the police reports and a statement about the incident to the law school. The incident happened 5 years ago. I plead guilty and recieved probation. I owned up to the mistake and ever since then I have not had one single problem with the law. I would appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this for me. Thank you.

...I have been split up with my ex for months now. He has not paid anything towards our mortgage and has left me in severe trouble with money.

He refuses to sign over the house and my offer of additional borrowing from Natwest to buy him out runs out next week.

I had agreed that he could take my car, which is on finance, but the finance company have refused to transfer ownership because of his really bad credit rating and they have told me now that I cannot hire, lease or sell the vehicle to any third party without their express permission.

He has gone absolutely mental at this nugget of news and is now refusing to sign point blank! I lose everything next week and cannot believe he is being so awful.

Is there anything I can do to force him to sign over legally? I am just so frightened now and just feel like either killing him or me!

He says he would rather see the house repossessed than let me have it now. It's not my fault he has bad credit! How long does this take?

I had a crazy rollercoaster relationship for seven years that including everything from cheating, abuse and manipulation. Clearly, when I finally wised up, I don't really care for him any more then I care for a pile of slime. However, I'm also a writer and I've been told by many people that my seven years of torture are best seller material. I think if I did write about it, it would mainly be to enlighten everyone into what my actions were about for seven years and help them understand the physical and mental anquish I went through and overcame and to show that its isn't impossible to do so. I wouldn't be doing it to ruin his name or his image, no matter how much he may deserve it.
How do people who write their own biographies not get sued for defemation/slander/etc? It would all be the truth, but in the end many people would have a different view of him.
Any advice?

If they move into private commerce well OK but why should they get another publicly funded position almost automatically, even though they have done a lousy job in office. Thinking particuarly about T Blair and Jack McConnell (ex Scottish First Minister). Also moving on to the House of Lords.

A friend was arrested (alleged sexual assault) while on vacation at Niagara Falls. He spent the weekend in jail, posted bail and has a court date scheduled. He is now back home in the US.

Can he be charged in the US also? He has to go back to Canada on his court date, but I wanted to know if he can be charged in the US courts even if the alleged assault happened in Canada. Any Info?

FYI: I dont know if he did it or not, I wasnt there! That is beside the points and only the courts and investigators can answer that. Thanks for any info that answers MY QUESTION!

My husband was punched in the face at work by another coworker. He did not lay a hand on the guy. The police were called and the guy was charged with misdemeanor assault. We went to the hospital and my husband had a fractured jaw. He had to have surgery to correct it and they put arch bars on his teeth with rubber bands so he could not open his mouth. He had to wear those for six weeks, eat an all liquid diet and was out of work for 4 weeks.

We did not file a workmans comp claim. His health insurance paid for almost all of it. We are planning on suing the guy for lost wages, pain and suffering, the cost of the surgery and attorney fees. The surgery was $38,000 (insurance covered most of it).

Will we get the cost of surgery or does insurance get that back?

I have lost 2 of my sons from the same father . I have my suspicions about my children's grandparents. I have this feeling that the grandparents had Life insurance policies on my sons. Help me find out. My second son died at 7yrs old in 2000 and my oldest Son died at 14yrs old while visiting his grandparents the ones I suspect in 2005. Since the cause of death for my 7 yr old was never founded and the manner that my oldest son died while in their care I have alot of unanswered questions. Not even the grandparents were willing to answer what even took place the day my son died . There just is alot of questions that I will probably never know but if I could find out if there were life insurance policies then my gut feelings of what i think happened to my sons may have been done for racial beliefs of the grandparents( who idolized Hitler) with a greed for money. My sons were have white/Hispanic. This may sound crazy but if you knew me you would not think so.
