My wife switched jobs last month. Anyways, 2 wks later we got a paycheck for the company she left direct deposited into the bank. It makes sense since most employers hold back 2 wks pay. The payroll office called her up today and said that she should not have received that paycheck. Since her account was setup for direct deposit do they have the right to pull the money out of our account? Is it legal for them to pull back a paycheck that has already been cashed or should they have to present evidence that the paycheck isn't valid? any thoughts would help.

I hadn't even heard anything about this check. I had moved and closed the account. I never recieved anything from the bank or the store that check was written to. At that time I still received mail at my parents house, so the address never changed. I got a letter today stating that they were going to prosecute my for check fraud. The check was written for $11.48, but says that I owe them $136. Why did they take so long to notify me of such action? Can they do that?

i was paid hourly and i was a w-4 employee

I reside in california and i worked at a place for 9 months they refused to give me lunch 80% of the time-- i kept all my time cards and pay stubs and i have an attorney that took the case on the assumption i will win and he will take a third of the winnings
I do not want to ask him how much i can get though because then i will seem like i money hungry bastard which i am but i dont want to show him this

so again i have all the proof that i did not receive a lunch

now a ballpark of how much i can expect to get IF i win

ok so a few months ago, i thought i was gonna be stupid and try to steal from a Spencers store in the local mall, but I decided that it wasnt a good idea. I already had the stuff outta the package but I changed my mind about stealing it, so I put it on a shelf and tried to leave the store. obviously i was stopped outside the store and asked where the stuff was and so on. the lady said "well if u just give me the stuff, i wont call security" so i went to the shelf where i put it and i gave it to her and she STILL called security! so security came down to the store and they questioned me, took my information and then searched my purse, but they dumped out my purse on the front counter IN FRONT of customers and they went through it, they actually had to move my stuff outta the way so a customer could buy something, but one of the security officers made a stupid comment about the condoms in my purse. I wanna know if they were allowed to go thru my purse on the front desk in front of ppl???

I was just like to know some of the details surrounding the death and maybe what the investigators may have found-even if it doesn't result in re-opening of the case or the criminal being caught. The case is still unsolved.

She is in ncalifornia, owns 5 houses and wants to live at home w/cna's on call or shift, gets complicated but we have details photos and video of wishes, we can pay but need help immediatly court on july 23rd 2007. Adopted niece wants to keep her in a home and has not visited over 10 minutes in 10 visits since placing her there after hip surgery, would not release to go back to her home, when the facility said she could return home they did all they could.....5x7 bedspace she said it is prison niece only saw her 2 in 10 years this is not right and we need help will send video. ordered haldon w/out a court order.

A supervisor is threatening a co-worker to get rid of her, he doesn't like her and everyone at the office knows that. She is an excellent employee, he just doesn't like her. She is due at the end of the month and she is affraid that they would be fired. He doesn't want to approve her maternity leave and he keeps on looking for excuses to write her up and fire her.
Could someone provide some legal advise.

I filed for child support against my father last Feb.(2006). We finally had court in Nov. and he was ordered to pay support and provide health insurance by the 30 of Dec. Nothing happened and he was held in contempt of court. Somehow he was able to get the judge to keep setting back the dates to hold him in contempt of court until sometime in June07. When that hearing finally took place he(my father) requested another judge b/c the current one was my lawyer previously. We were granted another judge and to his(my father's) disliking we were finally set for a hearing to hold him in contempt. This was about the 2nd of July. He was ordered to pay me and my attorney by the 31st of July or he would be arrested. And he also was given 14 days to protest the hearing. It is now July the 17th and the judge has not even made out the order. This has been going on for over a year now, and college starts back up in less than a month. Please give me some advice on how to get things going along faster

I'm currently taking a summer class of history, and I was wondering if it's illegal to record the lectures in class. I was talking to my friend about how I'm going to record my classes so I don't miss anything, and all of sudden he says, "It's illegal, you know."
