Imagine this scenario.

A man is punched and is knocked to the ground. While he lies there he gets kicked to the side of the neck. He later dies in hospital.

The jury finds the defendant not guilty of murder and manslaughter.

How should the public react in such a situation?

I have spent the last hour researching these very sad cases of child abuse and murder and am left with that question. Why would you give someone who took the life of a child 15 or 30 years? The child isn't coming back in 15 or 30 years... why should they (the parents) be allowed to go on to live their lives after something like that? Thats just sick.

This website has a few of the case's that i am talking about:

http://members.tripod.com/~leelah/angela...

By the way if that website is too chessy for you, you can actually search almost any of those childrens names in the wikipedia and find the same facts.

Many will argue postpartum deppression... I understand that there are many EXCUSES for doing something so horrible but the fact remains that no matter what the reason the child is still GONE.

We decided we would meet for future sessions so I left all my stuff (bass, amp and drum set) at his house. Now the guy has been unavailable, will not return my calls and my equipment is still at his house inside a secure gated community which I can not even get into. Should I call the law? How can I get my gear back?

Is it correct that you actually turn your age the day before your birthday. I read it in several law books. ex. say your birthday is april 16 and turning 18 it states that you would actually turn 18 on the 15th because your one day old the day that your born

I ate at a fast food restaurant last night, went to bed and woke up at 1 a.m. and spent the next 4 hours sitting on the toilet or standing over it. I still went to work and had to leave early (unpaid) because I felt so ill. Should I contact the restaurant and notify them?

My fiancee's exboyfriend and his parents have been harassing me since day one. They are in a custody battle for their kids...they have accused me of almost everything under the sun to keep her kids from her...most recently I was accused of sexually abusing her 3 year old daughter..children services investigated and closed the case. Now they have a restraining order out on me...we went to court for that yesterday and after 5 hours of testimony nothing was decided...if he gets this restraining order then I won't be able to see my fiancee's children...which I love them like my own...any advice???

My little sister is 18 years old. Today she was caught drinking at the Philadelphia Phillies game. She wasn't driving or behind the wheel. The police gave her a ticket for underage drinking. What are the penalties/fines? She currently lives in New Jersey and has a valid driver's license with a clean record, will this be affected? Can her license be suspended? Does she need a lawyer? What's the worst case scenario and has this happened to anyone else?

ok I am 14 and so is my b/f, billy. in november he was put in juvie for 3 days for possesion of marajuana. after he got out, he was on house arrest until febuary and on probation. he also had to get regular drug tests. Ever since then he has been doing fine until monday (4/9/07), he smoked a joint. he didn't know he would have a drug test the next day but he did and of course failed it. So he was back in juvie. he has been there since tuesday and it has been horrible and really hard to handle. Now last night he called me from there and said he was going to go to court today and then go to rehab for 60 days. Could someone please answer some of the following questions: What could happen to him? he wasnt completely sure he would go straight to rehab so what else could happen?
If he goes to rehab, will he be allowed visitors? phone calls? will he be able to leave at all?Is there any way for me to talk to him?

please help me. i feel so helpless and like im in this completely alone.

I moved out of my apartment complex at the end of my lease. About a month later I get a letter in the mail saying I own them over $3,000 for not notifying them that I was moving out. I verbally told the office I was moving out of the apartment complex when I made my last monthly rent payment. Now I have the collection agency calling for the payment. It seems very injustice because the payment is so high and unfair. What are my options? Should I get a lawyer or is it a no win situation?

If a patient has gone to a doctor and received a prescription for medication, should a pharmacist be permitted to say "I'm not going to do it" and deny the patient medication? I say no...fill the order or get another job.

If I'm an attorney and I get one of these pharmacists as a client, I'd be in for it if I said "my conscience prevents me from representing you."

I have the electric bill for a tennant house in my name. The tennant does not pay rent or what they are supposed to to for their part of the electric bill. The lease states that the electric was to be in her name. She could not afford her bill and it was turned off. For fear of pipes freezing I turned it on in my name. Well, as I said she dosent pay anything and I am going to evict her. She knew that the power was going to be shut off so she called the power company and made a payment arrangement under my account. The power company is investigateing her for fraud. So the question is if caught what is the penilty that she is going to face. With caller id they are able to locate the phone number that the arrangement was made at and if it was one that she had access to and I dont it will convict her.

People in prison get to sit there,( if convicted in a fair and just manner) and live on tax payers money. Do you think they should have a system whereby they could help contribute something to the GDP per capita. They are indeed adding figures to the demand curve, why not add figures to the supply curve by increasing productivity? The money spent on prisoners could be diverted perhaps to health care. What do you think?

I live in a residential area and own a home. On my lot there is a 15 X 50 foot easement. The easement is owned by a private party for access to forest land behind my home. The easement has only been used once in over 15 years to drive a truck through. I would like to build a fence in my backyard which would block the easement. I would install a 12 foot drive gate for access...will this be acceptable? any problems? thanks!

My husband and I are separated and have an 18-month old son. We share 50/50 custody of him, and typically have him every other day. I am bipolar, but on medication and am in counseling. When my husband asks if my son can go somewhere on my day, I let him go. If I have a brief appointment on my day, I go to my ex to watch our son so he is with someone he knows. However, if I want to see my son for an hour or so while his dad is gone to work, my ex will not allow me to take him anywhere, but rather have supervised visits at the place he stays (my mother-in-laws house). My husband also says our son cannot spend the night with me when my live-in boyfriend is there on my nights (every time) and calls six or eight times a day to check on our son when he is with me. Recently he busted out one of my car windows and will fess up to anyone who asks. I am at a loss in this situation. I do not know what to do. Should I go get my son and see him? Should I file for sole custody? Help!

we called dcfs and they seem to be brushing off the report of giving a 7-year old a knife and a BB Gun (unattended). the child stated that it happened and so did the mother who gave them to him (told dcfs). the report came back "unfounded". we called the next step up and they said there are no laws about giving a child a weapon unless they hurt themselves or someone else. does anyone know anything about that?
