When people can lose their jobs and be punished for protectible speech, then something's wrong with this country.

I think what he said was offensive. But his right to say it is protectible speech.

Proof once again that the media business is loyal to advertising dollars and not their viewers and listeners. A vocal minority such as Sharpton and his 2 percenters are just as tyrranous than a majority of abusers.

I hope Al Sharpton gets his some day. It seems he can heap disparagement against any white person he wants and get away with it. Some day he will be in the Imus seat.

No it wasn't right, first of all, what he said may have been sexist, but by no means was it racist, because, correct me if I'm wrong but there were white girls on that team too, in that case we can pick and chose who he was being racist to? The bottom line is if he was a black man everyone would have just laughed and moved on. But CBS does have the right to fire him for that, seeing how they were losing sponsors. But next time I hear a black man make a joke or comment about a white women, I think white Americans need to run to the nearest microphone and make whoever employs him to fire his ***, just like Limus. Equal rights, right...........

NO! Absolutely not right. It's a double standard if I've ever seen one. If He's fired rightfully then any comedian or Artist of any kind that tries to make a "funny" at the expense of others should be fired also then no more comedy, no more Hip Hop,mo more Freedom of speech.

as usual anymore such a rush to judge and punish that a persons rights are violated and they are not given the chance to make it right or even explain their own poor judgement.i think imus truly was sorry for his words it was wrong but two wrongs dont make a right.i wish all these young women only the best including the white ones on the team because it hurts if your team mates are hurt in any way for any reason because you become like a family.they accepted imus apology they are very wise and compassionate beyond their years.its very inspiring and they are right - time to put this behind all of us.

No...its against every thing this country stands for...its not right that rapper can say the same thing but worse and have hundreds of people yell there names and then one man makes one Sexiest response (wrong yes) and he is black booked...what happened to freedom of speech...and why are all the black girls on the team getting all the pitty when their are also white women on the team.

Yes. His actions caused all the advertisement revenue to vanish over night. How does a business work without bringing in any money?

It's IMUS, and if you do a quick search, you will find that this is already being discussed.

And yes, it was right. This country does not stand for calling someone a whore.
