When it comes to science and deciphering a law, the average person is not too bright. Why not "require" law students serve on a jury. There are plenty of law students. Or make a profession out of it, that way when billy joe bob sues because his coffee was too cold, the professionals know better. The cost can just get tagged onto the lawyer fees.

I'm also wondering about price gouging.. the gas station up the street sells Red Bull for $2.69 + tax for one of those 8.3 fl oz. small cans...is that not price gouging?

While I know that the ethical thing to do is to return the money and let them know... I noticed the error when I was opening a new bank account and transfered the money in there. I realize I should check balances more often but really did not notice it until I was moving funds. However-- while I will most likely let them know-- wondering what possible problems are if I cannot return all up front as I see that I used a portion that would affect rent, bills, christmas season, etc if I had to move it back now. Wondering-- these kinds of things have payment plans OR what about just keeping it as the old account is closed now anyways and I need no references from them. I informed them verbally and in writing at my time of departure and-- what's weird-- is that they sent me the smaller holiday/vacation time check and, apparently, kept on sending me payroll.

Even though it is ethical to return it all-- as the monopoly card reads-- are there "bank errors in people's favor?".

I was arrested about three weeks ago for a felony. I applied for a job this past Friday, and I just went to court today (Monday). I haven't been convicted yet or been able to enter a plea. What exactly will show up on my background check at this point?

Where do the ethical standards for the media originate? In the 'anything goes' depravity of ancient Rome? It is not known if this man has done anything wrong but he will be fired and his life ruined already. The world will see him as guilty.

rather than make abortion illegal again, why don't we make it so that it is illegal to receive money for the procedure? This is precisely what they did with Bounty Hunting in some states. A person cannot be paid a bounty for capturing a criminal in some states, thus there are no bounty hunters in those states. Should we make it illegal for anyone to receive money for performing abortions?

My brother (21) was involved in an altercation with a girlfriend. Here are some details, if necessary:
He unfortunately became part of a love triangle (the girl, himself, and her ex-boyfriend). Things became heated when she attemped to break up with my brother for her ex. During this time she called her ex who (unbeknownst to anyone) brought police to her apartment, claiming that my brother would not leave when asked. He was handcuffed against a wall while the police investigated the situation, and asked the girlfriend if she had been physically abused, to which she said no. He was let go, told to go home and never to come in contact with the her again. Since then he has not. (I know for a fact he was not arrested - he lives with me and came home the night of the incident.)

I believe you should be able to kill them. If someone entered my home I would not hestitate to kill them and that should be legal since they broke into my house. Any thoughts on this- for or against?

I recently bought a belt buckle from the store my friend works at called Anchor Blue. When I went back home from school for winter break my parents asked me why I was wearing a nazi belt buckle. So, before I sell the buckle, what does The Iron Cross stand for?

Is it within right for a landlord to limit how many times a person can stay with a tenant. And also can they deny someone from signing a lease with them and also without even letting them know the exact reason why they denied them.

This is long and complicated. I live in Ohio and I filed bankruptcy Oct 2005, right before the law changed. I went to court in Dec. It was discharged shortly after. Jan of 2006, a neighbor that I took care of passed away and left me and my husband the residue of his estate, which turns out to be quite hefty. I understand that we have to pay our creditors if we comeinto money within 6 months of BR. But, the Will is in probate being contested and BR attornies are trying to intervene to make sure they get there monies. By intervening, they are tacking on attorney fees that they have aquired in doing so. Now, I filed BR on only $17,000.00, but they are now wanting $75,000.00 because of the attorney fee's and interest. Which by the way, we have not yet been given the inheritance because of the contest. My question is, Is this legal?? The law says if you come into money within 6 months of the discharge date you have to pay your creditors. we were named in will, but not gotten money yet.
