Yes, it is none of their business. All totalitarian governments want to have direct control over the upbringing of YOUR children. Firstly, you destroy the traditional family unit, encouraging single parent families and other alternative family units. This helps to create inept parenting, giving the government an excuse to stick its nose in.Then, amongst other things, you use the school system to indoctrinate children, using legislation if necessary, eg. perverse sex education and left wing ideaology. A thirteen year old child can be given 'the pill' or abortion advice, without the parents having a right to be informed.
Basically, left wing politicians are giving children 'rights' which can be used to control the behaviour of the parents, to accord with the governments idea of how children should be brought up. They never use the word 'smacking', they much prefer the more emotive but inaccurate word 'hitting'. Social services and the adoption service also act as government foot soldiers in pursuing their left wing agenda.

Because if you're talking about smacking a child, it's legally incongruous. If it's assault for one adult to hit another and domestic violence for partners to slap or punch each other, why should it be OK to smack people who are smaller and more vulnerable than ourselves?
If you're talking about consensual BDSM activity, then it's pretty nonsensical to ban smacks between consenting adults. The key, of course, is consent.

Politicians like to attack the things that they fear, and since you suggest, many of them probably get off on S&M - thus they want to remove any temptation from thier sad little worlds. In the meantime, the rest of us get all fired up with this little insignificiant little issue, and hopefully do not realise that they are totally mucking up the really important things that they promised to fix on the soap box when we voted for them.

Smacking makes kids realise they have done something very wrong, the pain shocks them into not doing it again.
However the difference between smacking and abuse is that :
smacking is not done to vent anger or frustration it's done to help the child and is not taken out of proportion.
abuse is the adults venting anger and/or frustration and is taken out of proportion.
besides politician are dumb and need to be smacked

They feel children are too well behaved.
First they took all power from the teachers. Next the UN charter for Children's Rights said Children have a right to choose who brings them up and are equal to adults and not subject to control.
Parents are doing so well, they need to stop keeping tabs on their kids and stop correcting their mistakes.
Kids are so respectfull thanks to Blair.
Blair is a father figure to children and no other person is a more suitable mentor. Blair's honest, doesn't spread slander, hates picking fights, only serves his voters, stands by his high morals, spreads peace & never causes trouble.
When I have children, I'll give them to Tony.

I was smacked as a child and it never did me any harm. If I ever have kids and someone tells me i can't give them a wee slap for being naughty (on the hand or backside of course) I'll turn round and smack them too hehehe

There's nothing wrong with smacking. When I was young I got it from my parents. In fact, when I was really bad they'd give me a whole gramme!
