I'm a smoker, I live in Ohio, and I don't really care one way or another, it's helping me quit, if anything. I really hated leaving a bar smelling like smoke, even if I wasn't smoking that night. I hated trying to eat in a restaraunt with smoke blowing over.

I like how many places are making it illegal to smoke in public places. Smoke causes many health complications and I do my part by going outside so people with healthy lungs don't have to breathe in polluted air, we have enough smog in our cities. Smoking affects everyone in the immediate area.
I smoke, and have been trying to quit. Having smoke free areas is healthier and helping me reduce my smoking. The worst place is going to my in-laws, they all smoke indoors...ughhh! But I'm responsible for my own actions.
Although, I have to say that I would prefer a list of public places that allow smoking and public places that do not allow smoking, and leave it up to the owners to decide. That way people have a CHOICE to go to a smoke-free environment, or a place where smoking is allowed. If you can't handle the smoke, you have other options.

No it is a case of government over reaching its boundaries yet again. If they are baning it for health reasons (which is their claim) then McDonald's and BK should also be banned as obesity now kills more people than smoking.
In restaurants it should be left to the owner to decide as with all other privately owned establishments. In government paid for offices it should be banned with smoking allowed only outside.

I'm a smoker, and hel* No!.. I feel that just because we smoke they treat us like we aren't people, or citizens... They want to sell the cigarettes, charge ridiculous taxes on them and then don't want anyone to smoke them... If I wanted to quit smoking that's what I would do, I don't need legislature making that decision for me. I refuse to eat at a non smoking restaurant, or go anywhere else that is non smoking... if its the simple fact that "second hand smoke kills" then why don't we outlaw perfume/Cologne considering it causes asthma attacks in asthmatics, and most people wear it in quantity!
If you don't want to go into a smoking environment.... don't.. why should we be the ones out in the cold all the time. It's ridiculous.. I guess everytime I get a sniffle for having to smoke outside.. I should look into a class action law suit against all non-smokers!
By the way.. I have asthma... cigarettes don't bother me... but all that funky perfume/cologne does, should the people who wear that crap in excess be made to window shop or go into the store? Please for the sake of my health... My butt!

i dont like smoking, and i dont like having to be around smoke, so therefore i think it ok to ban smoking in public places, but to outright ban smoking i think is wrong. We should allow people to do what they want, and a ban would not allow for that.

When the right to smoke interferes with the right to breath fresh, clean air, I totally agree with it. I hate going out to bars and clubs and restaurants and other places because I have asthma and can't breath. I am perfectly OK with designated areas with very good ventilation or even outside areas, but under no circumstance should smoking ever be legal inside any public building.

I think it should be banned everywhere but then again, I am a non-smoker. I dont have anything against smokers--if they want to destroy their body, go ahead. But I shouldn't have to be subjected to it against my will. If you want to smoke, do it in your own home or personal space, not in mine.
Besides, I have an asthmatic child and smoking triggers it. Why should he be subjected to it against his will even? Second hand smoke kills alot more than ppl think.

America was founded on the concept that government should tell you how to live and should have control over all aspects of your life... no?
It's a good thing that government should tell adults what they can and cannot do with legal products in the privacy of their privately owned businesses - feel that liberty and freedom!

The voters did in the last election. That should answer your question.
