our mother had filed a power of attorney papers that our sister and a cousin signed. My father and I do not agree with the terms for many reason including placing my child with the cousin. for who we have not seen in over 15 years.

If you are over the age of 18, I don't see how your mother has the power to do anything with your child, unless you gave up custody. Then I think you are pretty screwed. Contact a lawyer or legal aid to find out if the p.o.a can be contested. I think as long as you have a good reason, it can be overturned

if you have custody of the child then she has no say, if your mother has custody of the child then you need to see a lawyer.

If you want to contest it - you will need to get an attorney. Don't try to do it yourself.
