What are the details on the age of consent in Massachusetts. I always see 16/18 listed. Does this mean 16 for females, 18 for males, 16 for having sex with someone close in age, and 18 for older people, or 16 with parental consent and 18 without it. I have heard each and am having trouble finding a straight answer.

I was wondering because this happened to a friends mom of mine and she was discouraged from taking action. She suffered major back problems for 10 years after the accident before she started to feel better - although she's not fully recovered by any means - and it really affected her life. She reported the incident right after it happened. Do you think she could sue? Oh. This is not about the money, this is just a question.

I was falsely accused of theft and criminal trespassing and I did neither. I was laid off from work, when the workplace was open,I came by to collect a few of my personal belongings (a paper holder for personal use, pen holder, and a document that had my checking account info). I had receipts there to prove they are mine, but they magically disappeared. When I came there, a lot of things were missing and rearranged. Fortunatly i bought that stuff with my personal card and received a copy of the receipt from the store i purchased the items from. I was never told i wasn't suppose to be there. I had to go to the police dept to retrieve my citations and it had the court date set for december, then i got something in the mail stating that there is a bench trial in january. I do have a lawyer, hard to contact him now...but just want to hear others' opinions. Plus, I have never been in trouble with the law before.

hi.
my friend got sued by the landlord because of unpaid rent.
also, another thing is that he is underage, living alone for now.
there is no parents (The actual person that signed the rent documents), because they had left for a vacation for 2 weeks or so.
When i took a look at it, it seemed like his parents had to appear at the court?
He was scared and just dropped off the pay check at the administration office. Will this drop / cancel the charges against him?
Can he go to the court and represent his parents, then pay the rent? What happens if he doesn't go?

Then enact legislation banning smoking damn near everywhere, when this legislation not only hurts small businesses like bars, but the tobacco industry itself, which whether you like it or not, employs many people.

I signed for a certain gym contract, and a few weeks later chose to change the contract. The sales consultant amended the contract, which I signed, but I have since discovered that the second contract was fraudulent. The sales consultant sold me a contract that was non-existent and pocketed the money himself. The gym is now holding me to the first contract...is that legal?

I have a roommate who is like a sister to me. She and I have known each other since high school. When I left my husband, hers left her around the same time. For finacial reasons, and moral support, we moved in together with our daughters, who are about a year apart in age.

Recently, my friend's ex has decided (for custody issues) that she and I are a couple. While I have many gay friends and have very short hair, I am in no way a lesbian. He is planning on citing me in the custody case as a reason that his daughter should not be with her mother (There are many other issues, but this is the one that pertains to me specifically).

My question is: Can I take him to court for slandering my name? and if not, how can I get this guy to stop? My daughter and my roommate's daughter both hear this crap come from his mouth every weekend when he brings them back from their separate father-daughter weekends. And I'm sick of it.

Any suggestions?

This man is badmouthing me to whomever he meets. The loan amount taken from him was paid thru postdated cheques, which he intentionally bounced(as the cheques were not with specific dates on them).I instantly paid him half the amount thru Demand draft ,and was paying his remaining amount as and when possible. He used to return me my cheques after paying the cheque amount.Suddenly I got warrants, not knowing why these were served for when i was already in the process of paying him.For each cheque he had filed a separate case and had not withdrawn a single case even when the payments were done.To the magistrate he agreed to settle the matters out of court. On the other side he wrote to my headoffice that i intend to cheat and that i was absconding and i was arrested and on bail and i have not paid him anything.
In my absence he sent cops to my place with warrants creating a scene where i stay and telling everybody that i m absconding and he needs NOC for sealing of my flat and theatens me.

What is the" 3 strikes you out"law? I heard it meant if you get arrested 3 times and go to jail, you'll go to prison and won't ever get out. Is this true? Does it have to be the same crime 3 times or just 3 times arrested period?

I was originally strongly pro-choice, until I read this

Wants to postpone childbearing: 25.5%
Wants no (more) children: 7.9%
Cannot afford a baby: 21.3%
Having a child will disrupt education or job: 10.8%
Has relationship problem or partner does not want pregnancy: 14.1%
Too young; parent(s) or other(s) object to pregnancy: 12.2%
Risk to maternal health: 2.8%
Risk to fetal health: 3.3%
rape or incest 1%

My whole reason why I thought women should be able to choose was because it was their body and if they got raped it was not their choice to have sex. When I found out these numbers I was shocked.

Anyone care to share their opinions. Please don’t talk about the government infringing on our rights. I'm just interested in those who are pro-choice and why morally?

We moved a year ago and we left our mailbox which my mother painted herself and my granfather made. My mom said we weren't allowed to take it with us and at the time it didn't matter that much. Now a year later I see that mailbox when I drive by our old house and yearn to have it back. We've had some legal issues already with the new tenants, but they were never persued, so I dont want to start anything else up, but I want that mailbox. Can I knock on the door and ask them to sell it to me?? Or should I go to a real lawyer. Sounds petty but its an heirloom that means a lot. I could say I use to live her can I pay you $ 100?? Please help......please please. Thank you so much.

Lets say a man kills another person, but gets shot or something happens to make him go into a very long coma, by the time he wakes up. They already have all the facts and know this man did it.

Would this man go to trial? Or just go straight to prison?
