Do you at least agree that what we are doing to the environment is not good? Perhaps not in an immediate time frame..but can it really be beneficial generally?

And if you agree...then why is it still not your immediate concern to change this problem??

Who cares whether it is you grandchild or your great-great-great grandchild who will be affected....is your responsibility not the same?

Forget Nuclear Power...here we have an abundance of water and wind energy and we are laughing...plus they spen a huge amount of the profits launching power smart and conservation advertisments...and we can still sell it to the US for twice the price that we pay!!! (Hmmm...socialism sounding a tiny bit better yet??)

Good point Eddie...but actually I have been without a vehicle for 6 years and wothout one by choice for 4 years....three months ago I was gifted an old diesel...I use it only to travel to nearby towns to visit family and to buy groceries 2 times a month.....otherwise I walk, bike or take the bus.

How I see it. We just need to follow the lessons from a movie called Ferngully the last rainforest and we should be fine.

I wish there was a better source of energy.

My biggest problem with nuclear power is Chernobyl 100,000s of people were messed up because of that meltdown and they are still disabled and trying to get help from the people who sent them in unprotected to clean it up. I think it was over half a million citizens were affected and those are just the ones that went in and out of Chernobyl to stop radioactive materials or something from comming into contact with some underground body of water and causing a much much much much much worse explosion that would have screwed up most of Europe and Asia. The shell built around Chernobyl is deteriorating and will basically need to be rebuilt soon... last I heard Russia had no idea where that money was going to come from. Other nations will wind up paying for it because its in so many different peoples best interest.

If a nuclear meltdown occurred it could mean total disaster for millions of people. It couldnt be more important for everyone to make sure that it never happens again.

I think the best thing we can do to cut down pollution VERY significantly is to switch all the coal power plants (about 80% in the US) to clean, safe (despite the hype) Nuclear power.

I believe I've read that would be the equivilent of taking every car off the streets of the US.
