i went to court for a felony drug charge, but was granted a deferred entry of judgement program (penal code 1000), can i pass a background check for purchasing a firearm before this probation period is over, since a judgement has not been entered? according to Penal Code 12021(d), you cannot while on probation, but if a charge has not been filed it seems i may be able to pass the check???
i know this question is pretty technical, but if anyone has any knowledge of the law i would really appreciate the help!

I'm only asking because I have a "friend" that purchases bootleg cds, but thinks that the police can only arrest you if you are the one selling the bottleg cds/movies and that they won't bother to charge you with anything if you merely purchase the bootledgged products. Anyone know what the law is on this topic?

(Note: the "friend" in the first sentence does not refer to me. Seriously. I'm just.... working on a short story.... and I want to know whether my protagonist would be arrested for such an act.... yeah...)

I might be involved in a situation where I do not receive my money back despite a gaurantee to have it back? The amount is less than $5,000. Is this sufficient to bring them to a small claims court like alot of the tv court shows, Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, etc?

Is it a breach of a persons human rights to be locked up in a no smoking police cell within a police station where smoking is banned anywhere on the premises?

Also, how about a person is admitted into an NHS hospital where smoking is banned anywhere on the grounds (inside and out)?

Surley these are cases of people being forced to go 'cold turkey'?

(We all know the health issues. This is just an interesting point of law)

i watched a tv program it showed a robber go into a shop in america and demand money claiming he had a wepon, the woman who worked there gave him money he turned to walk out the door she pulled a gun from behind the counter and shot the thief twice through the hip and shoulder the thief went down and she held him at gun point till the police came! this wasnt seen as a crime by us law enforcement yet it would be attempted murder in britain i think that unless the goverment can 100 percent garantee everyone in the countrys saftey they have no right to take an indeviduals means of defence away from them im not meaning to say firearms should be available but it shouldent be looked upon as " premeditated" if you have a little somthing in your house to protect yourself and property . i dont encorage or support violent behaviour but know a guy who woke up in the night to find burgalers in his house he challanged them(2)lads they beat him and left him unconcious in his own home

My step-son and two other boys were standing behind a teacher in their class room acting like they were humping her. They were all suspended for two weeks. The school officials are holding a meeting to determine the final punishment which will either be suspension for the rest of the semester or expelled for the rest of the year. They are saying that they are treating it as sexual harassment. Do you think it is harsh punishment or exactly what they deserve? All the boys involved have never been in any trouble at school.

They are prohibited in the Bible. God forbids it and the United States of America(God Bless) is a Christian nation. Don't give me no b.s. about the constitution it's in our pledge of allegiance. The majority of people in this country are Christians and I don't want no one telling me I can't believe in Jesus.

Even the Allah peoples have banned alcohol and they live in 3rd world nations such as Saudi Arabia. Seriously smoking and alcohol NEEDS to be banned immediately in the United States.

My brother is not allowed to be with his child in weekends like his court papers say becausue his psycho exgirlfriend does not want that. She recently had another baby with another guy (that's her life) but what bothers me is that now that my brother remarried my nephew cant be around his new wife or in his apartment or much less spend the night with him. But she has threatened him that if he takes her to court she will win not only because she works in the county court house and knows a lot of people but because she can do that because my brother has a tatoo and because he has a prior felony charge that was dismissed, can she do that. Is that legal or does my brother have any rights.

My court date was March 7th of this year. I was served on Feb 24th 11 days before the court date and was unable to get off work without it costing me my job to attend. Now they are garnishing my wages. Can I fight this for unfair notice? Does anyone know any pro bono lawyers in Missouri.

Legally, what could be done if OJ Simpson confessed to the murder. Could they retry him or could he just say, yea I did it and theres nothing you can do to me now. Not that he would do that, at least not until he was like on his deathbed or something. Would there be any law, civil or criminal that they could go after him on?

Ok, here is the situation:

I'm in Mexico, but I'm receiving a lot (I mean.. A LOT) of calls from this guy from the US. I don't know where the fcuk he got my number from, but he just keeps calling and calling and calling.

Also, his comments are very racist and xenophobic. Can I sue this guy in a US Court Law? Or I have to sue him here in Mexico?

I DESESPERATLY hope he is infringing some FCC law, even if his calls were to Mexico. I JUST CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!

My cellphone fell off my jacket a couple weeks ago at a johnny rockets about 15 min later i realized i'd left it there and i went back to the restaurant. I asked the manager on duty and the waitress and i frantically looked all over for it. No one else had seated where i was (per the manager). I asked our waitress and flat out in my face she said she had not seen it and told me they would reach me if found. Well, i went back after cancelling my phone and all and asked again if they'd seen it. Another waitress told me our waitress had taken it and provided perfect description of the phone and all there was in it (pics etc) and told me she no longer worked there (2 weeks after) and that she didnt turn it in (she stole it) I have to talk to the store manager now, but now that i have witnesses and possibly a security tape...can i press charges for theft if she won't respond or give it back? Thanks!

Hmm. So, you're on the john while having a very huge house party. Lots of people. Hundreds. As you relieve yourself, you bang your shoe against the john and paint chips off to reveal that your toilette is made of pure gold. PURE GOLD! It was painted over with some special paint. There is a line of people waiting to go to the bathroom.

Problem is, half the guests are people you don't even know.

What would you do?

I found out something shocking about my wife sisters boyfriend.......What should I do?

Earlier today I saw a post on here where a woman was talking about hiring a private eye to investigate her daughters boyfriend. Somebody mentioned the link http://background-records.net/ as a good place to find info online. Well I checked out the site and entered my sisters in law's boyfriends name and found out that he was convicted of armed robbery in 1999. I know this is him because the name, date of birth, and address are all the same. I am sure my sister in law doesn't know (and I am damn sure her dad doesn't know).......should I tell my sister in law or her dad? I don't know how to handle this situation

Well i don't mean the ordinary American , I do mean the government .
Maybe its the big bully attitude .
For instance ...not long ago America gave itself permission (( get that phrase )) gave itself permission to extract any person it decided had committed a crime against an American citizen in a foreign country .
So now the CIA or any of the other dozen security organisations regularly send covert teams to extract people , with not a word to the country they are extracted from .
Of course whether or not the crime has been committed is irrelevant
