I Am a teacher in a local college and I said that they could have shot OJ when he was driving away. My students argued that he could not have been stopped that way. HELP!

I agree with you but if that happened we would have riots in this country that would make all others look like nothing. If OJ's victims would have been black, I wonder what kind of support the black community would have given him then.

Deadly force could have been used, but.......he "WAS" a celebrity. The Police, and the General Public chose to not shoot a celebrity. Had that been just an everyday Black man trying to run from the Police, deadly force would more than likely been a more viable consideration. A form of prejudice within itself.

Yes, if you were Ron or Nicole. Did you intend to detain him for the police by making a citizen arrest and he confront you? If OJ didnt pose a deadly threat to you personally and physically at the crime scene that would be murder.

No, he could have not been shot, police officers can not shoot a fleeing felon unless they beleive thier escape would endanger the life of someone else.

Also at the OJ chase, there was no chance of losing him, he had not been indicted yet, only a suspect at the time( from my memory)

So since he was not threatening anyone, no he could not be shot)

Deadly force could of been used early on the the persuit however when the TV cameras got hold of it they couldn't because it would have been televised. The US police wouldnt shoot an old football champion anyway. Different rules for different people. "(

I don't think that would have been legal but he certainly should have been convicted and executed or at least put away for life. If I were a parent of Nicole or Ron you can bet your bootee that S.O.B. would be pushing up daisies right now.

I'm not sure if they could have legally, but I wish they had anyway.
