Suppose the U.S. passed a law that forbid the importation of any goods produced by foreigners working in conditions that do not meet American standards of fairness. Furthermore, it would forbid aid to any regime which does not actively work towards improving working conditions to meet American standards.

Would this effort to fight sweatshop labor be an imposition of American cultural and economic values on others, constituting a form of imperialism? Would you fight this form of imperialism, or would you accept it as "benign" imperialism...a sort of new form of the "white man's burden"?

I am the guardian of 2 teenage boys and their mom stole almost $10,000.00 from them. We are trying to get her investigated but it was mentioned to me that maybe I should file a lien against her brand new car- we think she bought it with their money since she doesn't have a job and was trying to borrow money from us before being arrested. It's about the only thing she has of value since she already lost her home and just got out of jail. She already told Social Security (who are the ones who gave the boys the money in the first place) that she would not return it. They recommended that we contact the FBI, but I would like to put a lien on her car in the meantime... We are already going through court proceedings against her which is costing us and I don't really have the extra money to hire an attorney to help me with this lien ordeal...

At the specified time, say January first of set year, all humans have one set of rights. Regardless of religion, race, sex, age, anything that sets one apart from another. I realize there are economic barriers, social barriers etc. But there are some rights such as the basic right of life; to live untouched if you don't touch.
Many smarter people than myself should be able to come up with a basic set of guidelines. Not welfare for the lazy or "guns for the greedy" or any of the over worked stuff. I just think it should be possible to stop children's and others suffering because of other's greed. JUST STOP. Live as people let people live .
Worth a grasp ? Probably not. But someone in power should try.
not just all of those trying without power.
Something I think about.

Can someone tell me what power, if any, I may have in this situation? My divorce decree states that my ex is responsible for 50 % of all non-student debt on our credit reports. I live in WI, a marital property state. He scampered away to Texas. Unfortunately, HE is responsible for 100%+ of the credit mess...I am being harassed by collectors because they, like me, can't reach him. What are my rights? Can I use this statement in the divorce in anyway way to my advantage when negotiating with debtors?

Can a store owner ban you for no reason? Can a ban be held up in court? Is this an illegal business practice? If this store is the only place in town to buy something, can a judge overrule his ban?
