I would at least consult with one; most will do a free consult. I did not have an attorney and got majorly screwed over by the insurance company because in their words I am "JUST a housewife".

Yes, you should consult an attorney. If the accident was your fault, you will need one to fight the insurance company. If it was not, you'll need one to fight the other person's insurance company. Either way, hope you weren't hurt too badly.

Yes you do. Most of em wont even charge you if the accident was not your fault. They just take a 'cut' out of the settlement.
