White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Friday the administration has to be “realistic about what this Congress is going to be willing to do” with regard to comprehensive immigration reform, all but pronouncing chances for a bill dead.

“I think that the leaders in Congress have decided that this is not something that they’re going to take up,” Perino told reporters. “And so I think the president, while he would like to have seen comprehensive immigration reform, does not believe that the Congress will be able to get that done.”

The administration had announced earlier that it would use new tools to curb illegal immigration, including tightening border security and imposing stiffer penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Meantime, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), a vocal critic of the White House immigration policy and long-shot presidential candidate, said that while the new initiatives look great on paper, he would follow them closely to see to see how they are carried out.

“In fact I think it would be prudent if we offered our own State of the State of the Border speech to keep them honest,” said Tancredo. “It’s not that we don’t trust them, it’s just that — well, we don’t trust them.”

The immigration debate had put a wedge between Bush and his loyal Republican base. While the president wanted a comprehensive bill with a guest worker program and a path to citizenship for people here illegally, many Republicans rejected such plans as amnesty and argued that a stronger border was the only solution.http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/white-house-signals-immigration-reform-is-dead-2007-08-10.html

To get votes for the next election?? It's an old method the Republicans have also used, and very hypocritical.

Rudy Guliani welcomed illegal immigrants when he was mayor of New York, and Romney hired a bunch of illegal Guatemalans to do landscaping on his house. And now to get votes from the conservative right, they hate them?? But we know if they get elected just like Bush they're not going to do anything, because big business loves illegal workers.
Serves them right if Hillary or Obama get elected.

No more immigration to America until we gets our country in order. Build the walls to stop illegals from
crossing. No more schooling, health care, or jobs for illegals. What's your view.

You have to give people some credit out there. It is very difficult to learn English on your own. It is very difficult to teach yourself something completely new. Try teaching yourselves Spanish or better yet, because Americans are supposedly so damn smart, teach yourself Arabic (writing, reading, and speaking (with a perfect Arabian accent)). I know, I know you don't have to learn those languages because you don't live in countries where those languages are the vernacular, but the point is to give credit to people. It is very difficult. When we bash others who have an accent or who don't speak English, we actually discourage them from learning. They think, "If that is the way English speakers treat people, then I don't want to be an English speaking person. " This is not a white, black, or any racial subject. It is just about language. Please give credit.

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Shoots, Kills Suspected Human Smuggler, August 10, 2007

EL PASO, Texas — A Border Patrol agent shot and killed a suspected smuggler at a fence that separates the U.S. and Mexico after the agent felt threatened by the man, authorities said Thursday.

Mexico criticized what it described as an "excessive use of force" against immigrants and demanded an investigation.

Jose Alejandro Ortiz Castillo, a 23-year-old man who had been caught crossing the border 28 times since 1999, died in Mexico shortly after the Wednesday night shooting, Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mosier said.

An unidentified agent spotted Ortiz apparently leading two men and a woman through a hole in the border fence just east of downtown El Paso. Ortiz, who was carrying bolt cutters, picked up a rock as the agent was arresting the woman, Mosier said.

Mosier said the agent "felt threatened by the actions of the
assailant who was holding a rock and bolt cutters."

From the Desk of:
Steve Elliott, Grassfire.org

+ + This may explain why President Bush is
pushing the amnesty agenda. -- Steve

Kevin,

If you have been scratching your head trying to figure out
why President Bush has pushed so hard for amnesty, here's
your "smoking gun."

An effort is underway to create a North American "framework"
that will all but eliminate hard borders between Mexico,
the U.S. and Canada. This "framework" includes a "trusted
travelers" program that allows "citizens of North America"
to move freely within the three countries.

No wonder the President is pushing amnesty!

On August 20-21, President Bush will join Mexican President
Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Harper for the second
Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) summit.

The SPP is what many believe to be the beginnings of the
infrastructure for the North American Union. The SPP's
stated goal is to:

"...Consolidate our action into a North American
framework to confront security and economic challenges,
and promote the full potential of our people, addressing
disparities and increasing opportunities for all."

This tri-lateral agreement already has resulted in regulatory
changes and open borders initiatives that clearly undermine
our sovereignty. The SPP is the one touting the "trusted
travelers" program to encourage migration of "citizens of
North America."

+ + Petition opposing a North American Union

Today, Grassfire is launching a national petition formally
opposing these and other efforts to create a North American
"framework" and undermine our nation's sovereignty.

I want to rally 100,000 signers before the SPP meetings this
month and have them on hand in Canada as part of a building
citizen protest against such efforts.

Please go here for more information and to sign:

http://www.grassfire.org/89/petition.asp?RID=12041632

+ + Exclusive interview with author Jerome Corsi

New York Times bestselling author Jerome Corsi just completed
a new book detailing our government's rapid move toward a
North American "union." It's called "The Late Great USA."

Corsi agreed to record a special interview "briefing" on the
NAU for our Grassfire team members. Go here to listen to
that interview and to access Grassfire’s detailed backgrounder
on the NAU and the NAFTA superhighway:

http://www.grassfire.org/89/petition.asp?RID=12041632

Kevin, of course the President denies that the SPP
is a precursor to a North American "Union." But there is
mounting evidence that the SPP is creating precisely that
structure -- all without any congressional oversight!

Will you help me rally 100,000 citizens before this latest
SPP meeting convenes -- in less than two weeks?

Please sign and then forward this message to your entire email network.

Thanks in advance,

Steve Elliott, President

soo many arabs here in Canada we will eventually become like france or any other country experiencing a culture that will eventually want to take away our Canadian Traditions and culture?? It's the Americans you Decided it's a good thing to help them out like the muslim enjoy their country and deal with their own problems..we did not need anyone to change them and 'liberate' them, they are fine they way they were.

2007-08-10 08:03:04 · 14 answers · asked by Anonymous

Oh that's right, because you know you don't have anything to back up your claim.

When conservatives become irrate over an illegal raping and murdering our men, women and children, why is the only response liberals can come up with is "americans do the same thing, why don't you get mad at them too"? Well FYI, we do! It is apparent they don't have a resonable defense because they try to make some quick little comeback that makes them look like even bigger idiots.

To all of the people who say that Americans commit crimes too...you are the reason our country is headed for disaster. We would be just as irrate if the person committing the crime was an American, however, this is a crime that could have been prevented if the liberals weren't out holding the illegals hand as they crossed the border. Of course we are angry when an illegal does something wrong! The crime never should have happened!

I want to send a letter to Maxine Waters on my mother's behalf. Her work permit is going to expire soon, and I'm hoping she could help me. My mom is an immigrant, so she doesn't have her green card, although she has been here for 23 years.

But I'm not sure of the template for the address in the left hand corner. Can someone help me with that? I've seen a couple of templates online, but they don't help me very much.

Also, where should I send it since she's a senator, right?

Thanks!

Besides morals, I believe that we are physcially declining and are about where the ancient Romans were in the year 420. (Just 46 more years until the complete fall). Think about it, the native peoples of these countries don't want to do the dirty work anymore (military service and manual labour), so they have to bring in others (immigrants). The Romans were just like this towards the end when they brought in Gothic barbarians to fight against.....you guessed it, other Gothic barbarians. The glory days are over and China's chance might be sooner than you think.

Illegal aliens and their supporters are picketing businesses that make it a practice not to hire illegals. Someone just told me this. If this is true, I am just amazed why these people continue to make demands on the American people. Why do they think we have to cater to their every whim?

As immigrants face skyrocketing application fees from the federal government, a new proposal by Supervisor Chris Daly could give financial assistance to those applying for citizenship.

Under a new fee structure the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services implemented last week, an immigrant applying for a green card would pay $930, an increase of $605. Other fees that increased were citizenship applications, which went from $330 to $595.

The administration unveiled a series of tough border control and employer enforcement measures designed to make up for security provisions that failed when Congress rejected a broad rewrite of the nation’s immigration laws in June. The plans were announced by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez.

The package revealed Friday has 26 elements, and the administration announcement said they "represent steps the Administration can take within the boundaries of existing law to secure our borders more effectively, improve interior and worksite enforcement, streamline existing guest worker programs, improve the current immigration system, and help new immigrants assimilate into American culture

I am so going to get a violation for this; however, what I am going to tell you is true and correct.
1 The resentment against those who look like they came here illegally and got amnesty is going to be worse than what was felt against blacks in the post Civil War Era.
2 Unless a Chicano or other Hispanic appearing person speaks American English without any trace of an accent they and all people who have a marked non American accent are going to be regulated into minimum wage jobs.
3 If you are an American born who does not speak with out that accent then YOU HAD BETTER NEVER EVER QUIT YOUR JOB IF IT IS BETTER THAN MIN IMUM WAGE. You have become a labor serf. Tied to the only job you will ever get with or without an education.
4 The USA which has classes divided by socio-economic levels will have classes now by not skin color but by accents. Today hard work and education can make any individual upward mobile or if you are a lazy bum you can slide down the social scale. From the moment there is amnesty there will be new classes established and they will be darn hard to move between.
5 The Hispanic population is very racists as a general rule. I know because I have lived as a minority all my life in southern NM. When in High School I asked a Chicana out on a date. She said yes but her brothers and their friends beat me bloody when I came to get her.
6. The new Class system may be established not by American Citizens! Think it through the estimates run from 12 to 20 million illegals with the majority of them being Hispanic (Spanish speaking) by 7 of 10. For every one of them who get a free get out of jail card they can bring in as many as 258 relatives under the amnesty program as currently proposed. Let me see.
Best Case 12,000,000 x 258 = 3,096,000,000
Worst Case 20,000,000 x 258 = 5,160,000,000

Even if only 25% of those numbers come : 774,000,000 to a 1,290,000,000 of non Citizens who do not have our language, culture, nor have they contributed to the social services net which they will overload.
The population of American Citizens is estimated to be a little over 300,000,000! What will it do to this country to absorb at a minimum twice that number of people who do not have our culture, language, ethics, or education?
What is the impact on economics, law, culture, and who will assimilate whom?
