I suppose I could support a temporary moratorium on immigration, if it would finally get enforcement moving. I would definitely want it to be temporary, though, and as enforcement succeeded in reducing the number of illegal aliens in the country, I'd expect legal immigration to not only resume, but to eventually be allowed at higher levels than it is now.

The U.S. has a quota system, one in which so many people from each country may enter legally. This I approve. This is the way many people have entered our country & have been welcomed, after a "getting to know you" period. I do not approve of illegals from any nation. I know of no Nation on this earth that accepts illegal immigration. Why should we? I do not believe that we should school or give jobs to illegals. However, if a person is ill, I don't feel that we should deny them medical aid. Then we should send them back to their home country. I'm not speaking of long term care here, only what is necessary to get them well enough to go home. Then it should be the problem of their native country to take care of them, if that doesn't happen, it really isn't our problem. We have a problem with health care for our own people who are not able to get the health care needed, we cannot care for the world although we certainly have tried to do so over the years!

A hold on legal immigration would be stupid IMHO. That would hurt the economy. It's not legal immigration we have to worry about it's the illegal part. BTW walls won't work, they will get around it, the last couple of ideas like no more schooling, health care etc, would be just thrown out by the courts like prop 187 was here in California (which btw was approved by voters..)

Did you ever hear of the Hapsburgs? Probably not, they're all dead now, they tried to be exclusive, and they ended up all hemophiliacs. I'd prefer we kept getting new blood, just not illegally! All we need to do is enforce the existing laws, don't need to spend money on making new ones, just enforce the ones we have.
PS - the folks "tank"mentions above were not illegal at the time, so the EARLIER people who moved in across the former land bridge across the Bering Straits have no say - they were just here first, and had no laws or controls - they didn't think that way, lucky for us later arrivals.

Stop the handouts. I don't think you will be able to stop immigration. But I think a great place to start will be that parents would have to prove they are in this nation LEGALLY - visa, passport, birth certificate, etc - before a child could be registered for school. I also think that one would have to produce proof of identification upon registering at a hospital.
I just think that too many are too lazy to take the necessary steps. There are already the measures in employment to make sure one hires legal individuals. There is a form (I-9), and a simple phone number to call and verify the ss# or INS#'s. If they don't register - they aren't able to be hired. But too many choose to "forget" that step.

No more illegal immigration!!!!
Legal immigration...well...that's what makes American wonderful. We are a mixture of many different cultures. As long as it's legal and not coming here to live off our government and state I have no problem.
But, don't get me wrong, I do have a problem with people coming here and using up our social security program. All the SS that I've paid in might never be part of my retirement because of immigration. Also, stop and think what jobs will be out there for our American children. Don't our children deserve the opportunity for a career. Look at the job market. Many jobs plainly state that Spanish is a must for the job. Why is that, so we can speak to immigrates who refuse to learn English. One hundred years ago when immigrants arrived at Ellis Island, the began learning English and some even changed their names to fit in with other Americans. That's what being American is about. Wanting to be part of America, fly the American flag. When one leaves their home country and relocates to America, then leave that country behind. Do everything you need to become American. But don't push your country off on us and don't expect us to support you!

As long as we get rid of the illegal aliens in this country & build a version of the Great Wall Of China... "Legal" immigration should always be welcomed. If we take away the freebies & jobs... The "illegal" aliens will self deport!!! Send the kids with them, since they don't want to seperate their families. One thing that I would change is... I would clarify the 14th Amendment. I would revise it to say that if you are born in the U.S. to an illegal alien, you are illegal also. Everyone knows the 14th amendment was meant for Black slaves. Illegal aliens are abusing the 14th amendment just like they are abusing the welfare system. We must put a stop to this invasion.

I say we need to stop illegal aliens and let them know just cuz your pregnant and sneak into the US illegally your child is NOT a citizen and you can not rip us off any more.
I also think we need to call whoever and let them know to attack Michael Savages free speech is to attack ours. A SF supervisor is trying to get the man fired because he said that the illegal alien students who were fasting for the Dream Act should starve to death that would solve the problem
How dare some bureoucrat attack the Constitution in favor of law breaking illegal aliens

My view is that everyone around the globe has a right to be here to claim back everything the American government has stolen --yes, stolen-- from their countries. Everything America has was obtained by oppression of other countries.

My view is the same as yours """No more immigration to America until we gets our country in order. Build the walls to stop illegals from crossing. No more schooling, health care, or jobs for illegals. """"" PLUS charge employers who hire and employe them with HUGE fines
Once our government shows us they can control illegal immigration. I then think they should open it back up to legal immigration.
