White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Friday the administration has to be “realistic about what this Congress is going to be willing to do” with regard to comprehensive immigration reform, all but pronouncing chances for a bill dead.

“I think that the leaders in Congress have decided that this is not something that they’re going to take up,” Perino told reporters. “And so I think the president, while he would like to have seen comprehensive immigration reform, does not believe that the Congress will be able to get that done.”

The administration had announced earlier that it would use new tools to curb illegal immigration, including tightening border security and imposing stiffer penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Meantime, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), a vocal critic of the White House immigration policy and long-shot presidential candidate, said that while the new initiatives look great on paper, he would follow them closely to see to see how they are carried out.

“In fact I think it would be prudent if we offered our own State of the State of the Border speech to keep them honest,” said Tancredo. “It’s not that we don’t trust them, it’s just that — well, we don’t trust them.”

The immigration debate had put a wedge between Bush and his loyal Republican base. While the president wanted a comprehensive bill with a guest worker program and a path to citizenship for people here illegally, many Republicans rejected such plans as amnesty and argued that a stronger border was the only solution.http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/white-house-signals-immigration-reform-is-dead-2007-08-10.html

Whatever Bush says or comes out of his office is the DIRECT opposite from what they really mean. It means that Bush is going to find another way around it other than the way he tried the first two times. He needs to have the amnesty become reality so the North American Union can be finished...by the way they are meeting in two weeks in Canada to put the finishing touches on it.

Illegal is is illegal and it is criminal. And ye we the base have made our voice and groups like LABAMA or what ever are not taking this country and turning it to a Spanish speaking Latin country.
Every one of us came from some where in our roots even the natives came from A land bridge from Asia. No one is a true native as they claim. Some came first. And if we are going to displace people then lets start with Turkey as they came from the steeps of Asia and than go all over the globe. Get real if this is what you stand for.

Now You do not say if you or your family came here through the front door and if they did and you support amnesty than you wish to slap your parents and all of the other people who have come here after waiting and working and spending a lot of money to come here legally. And many of these people work very hard to learn and become a part of America and this is what makes us great not by allowing criminals to be given a free pass and then not want to learn to speak English as well.

The Government will try to do this again and both sides think we are stupid. But the right pays attention and we will be heard as the last election we did not vote and let the left gain seats to make our voice heard and it was which we can never let our guard down and we will not.
We the people.

Just more smoke and mirrors from this oh so "transparent administration" Illegal aliens are not immigrants, so its another misnomer..Everything this administration does is hidden behind closed doors. Its about as " transparent " as a lead shield. Definition of Comprehensive... 1. Including much; comprising many things; having a wide scope or a full view. [1913 Webster] A very comprehensive definition. --Bentley. [1913 Webster] Large and comprehensive idea. --Channing. [1913 Webster] 2. Having the power to comprehend or understand many things. "His comprehensive head." --Pope. [1913 Webster] 3. (Zool.) Possessing peculiarities that are characteristic of several diverse groups. That is understandable. I don't believe the dems want to address anything so why should immigration be any different?BTW, I heard on NPR (National Public Radio) the last couple of days, that there will be an increase in the enforcement of laws regarding companies hiring people that have mismatched information, specifically, SSN that does not match name or some other information does not match. And also to the extent of legal action being taken against companies that develope a habit of hiring people with mismatched information so, thats addressing an issue but it didn't involve any law making just, the decision to enforce laws.

Senator Arlen Specter (snake with 2 heads) wrote a new draft the gives green cards to illegals with no chance of citizenship. The draft also gives authority to proceed with the SPP, the first step to North American Union. (The draft was removed from the internet) I'm glad their on vacation, watch them closely!

Could it be? Finally an awakening?! I don't think they were ever going to bow to the silly demands of illegals, no matter what they said. It's political suicide to even hint at supporting amnesty at this point. What we need to do now is deport. All benefits, ID cards, medical care, and schooling has to be cut off right now because these criminals are going to remain criminals. Now that we've determined that, we cannot condone their continued stay and dependence. I wouldn't worry too much about Pelosi's hot air. She pretty much destroyed her credibility as a rational thinking human a while ago.

The neoconservatives had 12 years controlling Congress to act on immigration reform. They did nothing.

The neocons had a chance to support Bush's conservative reform bill. They blocked it.

Now--in 2009 we will get a comprehansive immigration reform bill--but it will be more liberal and the democrats will get the credit.

The neocons willl have no choices--except to complain. They have nothing to complain about. This is the logical consequence of their choices.

And Pelosi responded by immediately calling for comprehensive immigration reform.

When is this administration going to start enforce our immigration laws? Why do they put Border Patrol Agents in jail and give immunity to drug smugglers? When is Attorney General Alberto Gonzales going to jail?

Vote for RON PAUL to end this corruption and return to Constitutional government.
