Immigration - July 2007

We have been together almost a year, both in our forties, defintely want to be together. We know there are several avenues open to us but I am wondering if anyone has any experience with either the fiance visa, or being sponsored by a family member (he has two sisters who live in the states.) Which one is more of a sure thing? We don't want him to get denied because of quotas, then be unable to visit for a year!

my family went through immigration, we got our legal status and then came to america to work hard, why do some think that the illegals should not have to go through the same process that my family did ten years ago to come here, were are poor and we waited, just like 1000s of hispanics did before us

They were marching down the main road. Isn't this the turn off part? At what point do they realize that they are making more enemies than friends by not using wisdom?

Euro-Americans who oppose illegal immigration always say that "my family came legally through Ellis Island". And also that they came here to work and committed no crimes like the Mexicans are.

The truth is many of those families who came through Ellis Island would today be considered ILLEGAL. Many were stowaways or fell through the legal cracks. They had to be sponsored by someone in the U.S. and many just got off the boat, and hid away.

Also many like the Italians faced discrimination in America, so they turned to murder, racketeering, and organized crime which is known as the mafia. Does all this sound familiar??

I am not a Citizen of the UK. I am a US Citizen and flying to the UK to see some friends. I am not sure how long I will be there for. I know you can be there for up to 6 months without a Visa. But what my concern is when I fly over there, will I be allowed to gain entry into the UK without a round trip ticket? I heard that some countries, I am not sure, want to know that if you fly there, you need to show proof you plan on leaving.

Two reasons I am doing that this way.

1) I do not know when I will return to the US.
2) I do not have enough money to purchase a round trip.

Now, I know I can purchase a roundtrip and chang ethe date for a fee. But like I said, I will not have the money right now to purchase a roundtrip. I will not be working in the UK but I will have some money freed up next month which will allow me to purchase a one-way ticket back. Also, I do have enough money to be self sufficient if I budget. I do have constant income whether I am in the US or not.

My husband's manufacturing plant just closed and moved its operations to their plant in Jua'rez Mexico. My nephew is an Electrician working for a company that was contracted by this company to install machines from the closed plant here in the states. He spent a month at the Jua'rez plant. Here is what he wittnessed.
Workers make 30.00 per day. Clothes, shoes, medical and child care are provided.
An employee will come to work for maybe two weeks and then send their wife, uncle, brother or sister in to take their place. They will come back to work after a few weeks, no problem.
They may work for a couple of weeks and just get trained for the job they are doing and leave because the GM plant down the road is paying better or working a few more hours.

My nephew was surprised that the company put up with this type of conduct since it would never be condoned here in the states.

It seems these people think we owe them something as part of being world neighbors. I am simply overwhelmed by the stupidity of these pro-amnesty supporters, who think that breaking the law should mean a free ride and citizenship.

I have noticed that whenever people can't carry a conversation because of their limited vocabulary they get angry & lash out at the other person in desperation to the point that they call the other person names. Perhaps if the illegals made more of an effort to learn to speak english so that they can be able to carry dilogue there might be better understanding of where we as Americans stand. When I convers with legal or illegal immigrants in spanish I can bring even the hardest of them realize our dilema & we come to agreement on verious issues. There is of course the ones that are so narrow minded that they can see through a keyhole with both eyes at the same time. But what we have here basically is a [failure to cmmunicate]. Maybe what we need is good pro & con debates, maybe than they will realize it's not a race issue but a legal issue.

Interesting find but I fell upon the fact that the civil war wasn't fought over slavery - but 'unburdened taxation' on the south.

Now I ask, is there the same unfair taxation today over immigration?

You betcha.

The Confederate constitution states in Section 9:

Section 9 - Limits on Congress, Bill of Rights

1. The importation of negroes of the African race from any foreign country other than the slaveholding States or Territories of the United States of America, is hereby forbidden; and Congress is required to pass such laws as shall effectually prevent the same.

2. Congress shall also have power to prohibit the introduction of slaves from any State not a member of, or Territory not belonging to, this Confederacy.

http://www.usconstitution.net/csa.html

THIS WAS THE SAME LAW THAT EXISTED BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR.

One account of the story is here:

Amazing.
