Have you ever been to Brazil? It's a beautiful place but riddled with poverty as is much of South America. The truth is that all of those countries need help raising above their greedy governments but it doesn't mean we should open our borders to them. A big part of the world doesn't have it as good as we do yet it doesn't mean that we need to all live under one world government and live together. Utopia doesn't exist. It would be disastrous. If we are going to let people in here because they are in need, then I'd rather accept a child from Africa who is waiting to die with a million flies surrounding him then a strong well fed person from south of our border any day.
They have to wait their turn just like any other country to come here legally. It is very hard to get legal immigration from any country in South America. The further you get from the US though, the harder it becomes to immigrate illegally.

I don't know, but think that it's easier to get to US if being from Brazil of Argentina. Central Americans (like the Mexicans) are more controlled by USA.

It is quite easy to get from Latin America to Mexico and then sneak in. Alternatively, they may have come in legally and then let their visas expire.
