The category No. 18 visa is a work visa providing by a company. I am not sure about your nationality. The requirements for the family visa are:
Your monthly salary should be minimum KD 250 according to work permit (green paper known as "idhn amal" in Arabic).
An affidavit for the relationship, attested by both the embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kuwait).
Your marriage certificate. (Attestation not necessary but the original and copy required at embassy and immigration).
Specific application form.
I am not sure whether you can able to transfer her sponsorship directly to you or has to exit and comeback on the new (family) visa.
