I imagine they feel betrayed by their own. But they don't realize that after all the effort, the money, the time the legal ones spent on doing things the RIGHT way they can't agree with a bunch of illegals getting the same things for nothing.

CCC deserve the best answer. I think he nailed it when he stated that illegal immigrants complain about the cooruption in Mexico's government, but illegal immigrants skirting around the law adds to the mentality that causes the corruption.

As for your question, illegal immigrants greatest defense is to call those who oppose it, a racist. It's hard to call their own people racist, although they try. There was a rash of people here using the word coconut. It's partly due to the mentality us against them. THey identify Hispanics with illegal immigrants, when that is not the truth. They feel betrayed.

Well I don't know about others but as for me I dislike it when legal hispanics speak out against illegal hispanics because if you traced down their heritage one of their ancestors entered the country illegally and I find that hypocritical. Its like myself I am a naturalized citizen but my children will be born citizens yet my parents entered this country illegally. And to think that my kids would turn around and talk about how illegals shouldn't be here is absurd when their own grandparents were illegal and the sole reason why they are now legal. but as I said that's my own personal reason.

It undermines their whole cause. Thats why. If you make it look like only a bunch of booger eating rednecks want the mexicans out, then your cause has some teeth. When everyone says they want them out, it invalidates their argument. Also, I don't think its fair to immigrants who can speak english to cater to the non-legal, non-english speaking immigrants. There are plenty of people from eastern europe who can speak pretty good english. What about them? Chicago has a huge polish population. In fact, they are the largest chicago immigrant group. Poles have a hard time getting visas, yet mexicans can just walk right in and if they stay long enough, they get amnesty. Oh yeah, and mexicans don't need to learn english.
