Immigration - July 2007

My friend is currently employed here in the US and his employer petitioned him (EB3). He is married and has a 5 year old son which are both in his home country. If the visa number becomes available what options does he have in bringing his family here? Can they adjust status at the same time?

Thanks!! ^_^v

Sen. Barack Obama told La Raza in Miami Beach yesterday that he marched in an immigration rally.
http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070723/NATION/107230063/1001 The Illinois Democrat said the recent Senate immigration debate "was both ugly and racist in a way we haven't see since the struggle for civil rights."

I my opinion I believe yes. Here's my stand on it.There are too many different cultures in the U S to speak on a National level ALL languages. We must have 1 common language which all can speak or mass confusion in all aspects of daily life would result.Speaking your native tongue at home or with friends is fine but in the workplace, schools etc. we must have a common ground and that would be language.Do you agree or disagree? And why?

I think that the only way to stop illegal immigration is for the Mexican government to become less corrupt.

have a fifth grade education, then insults us because most American are not bilingual, even they are only monolingual for the most part. Is this more about making this country accept Spanish instead of English for those Latin Americans.

I've hear conservative on here say obama told La Raza something about people against illegal immigration are racist. Now given the conservatives penchant to misquote Obama, (he doesn't want to teach sex ed to kindergarten children, and thats just pathetic if you believe that) I was wondering if anyone can post a link to a LEGITIMATE news source with this quote, (video would be great) I saw where Obama talked about the civil rights struggle of both African Americans and Hispanics, is this what people are talking about? Thats the only thing I saw that could be misconstrued by people that didn't like him.

if they aren't "bilingual"?(spanish) why is it, that in the country in which i was born, i must learn to speak another language in order to be employed but those who come from another country don't have to learn english in order to converse properly? if i were moving to another country, for whatever reason, i'd learn that language so as to be able to get along.it's as hard for us to learn another language as it is for those coming into the country.why is it, we have to change? why does america cater to spanish speaking people?
i hope i put this in the right category.

Most illegal aliens come to USA to work on jobs that we don't want or jobs with such low salaries that won’t allow us to make a living and sustain our families.
Let's say the government deports all illegal aliens, every single one of then in one week. What would happen to our economy?
Will it get better or worst?
Please answer if you know about economy.
No racists statements please, not all of them are Mexicans or Hispanics; there are also white illegal aliens (Europeans)

Look, I am mexican, so I understand the situation of people who wants to live and work in the USA.
I know the situation of the governmet.
My country is very beatiful but I know the truth about our government, they don´t do their job.
They don´t support poor people, and if someone wants to get a visa, it´s to difficult.
I am not in this situation, I have my passport, my visa, I Know your country, but I know my people too.
When they want to go to your country, it is because they want to live better. I accept that when they arrive, they think it´s better to get an easy live, stoling, and whit drugs, and taht stuff. But there are some of them, that just want to work, to send money to their families and they suffer the robbers from latin people too.
It is not fair, that some of you attack them wothout knowing their situation.

What do you think?
I`m serious, be serious please!
Thank you!
