How many U.S States were discovered and colonized by Hispanics/Latinos ?

Florida and Oklahoma as well. An argument can be made for Oregon and Washington in terms of discovery, as Juan de Fuca visited Puget Sound long before Lewis and Clark.

Don't forget the French, with Maine, Michigan, and the majority of the states on the Mississippi watershed, and the Russians with Alaska.

The English speakers can claim discovery mainly of the East Coast, but the Vikings actually were on Cape Cod five hundred years before that fellow Columbus, who claimed to be Genoan but wrote his diaries in Hebrew and worked for the Catholic Spaniards.

Fact is, though, there were people here already. Colonized is a nice word, but invaded would be more truthful. By the way, what was your point?

Europeans (Spainards) conquered Mexico and it's indigenous people. The Spainards created some missions in California but never really controlled it or the Southwest.
Spain later gave the land of which you speak to Mexico but Mexico could not control it either. The indians that lived in the area had their own ideas of who owned the land. The US fought and won, then paid for the right to take it from the indians.
The point you are trying to make is the US took the land from Mexico and we did not. We took it from the indians and paid Mexico for the right to do it. Now that we have conquered it, settled it, and improved upon it you want to claim it is yours? it was never yours and you certainly would not have done anything with it.

The territories originally inhabited by the Spanish and later the Mexicans were not adopted into the United States until *after* both countries had essentially abandoned them.
