More than that. The government should improve their economy so that Mexico is a more attractive place to live. Let the people of Mexico earn enough to make a decent living. I have nothing against Mexicans. I just think it would be better if they didn't need to leave their country and their families to find work.

Mexico's GDP is over one trillion dollars a year. They have nearly 20 billion barrels of crude; that's only their KNOWN reserves. Mexico City University is world class. They do NOT need us...none of them. Simply put: Mexico not a poor country. That is a myth sustained by the abysmal conditions in border towns.
And, yes, about 20% of illegal border-crossers are OTM's (Other Than Mexicans). The fact is that most pay more to come illegally than they'd pay to immigrate legally.
As for Mexico, the government, though corrupt, is only a part of the problem. Their numbers increase so rapidly (1928 - 15 M ppl; 2008 - 110 M ppl [not counting the ~40 to 60 M in the US immigrants & their children]) that simply building schools, roads, resevoirs and sewers would be a daunting task. Services have not kept up with population growth.
So, ending the corruption would be a good thing. But, by itself, it would not be at all pivotal in the long-run.
It seems that what Jews do to remain successful is exactly what societies under the shadow of historic Spain do NOT do and, as a result, remain just as impoverished.
What is that semitic secret? Expect nothing less than the highest performance of their young...nothing less than a law degree or a physician's licence. If you must be "only" a stock-broker, lead the industry or you'll have shamed your parents. A bachelor's degree, only, is like a house with walls but no roof. Finish it. Get a PhD.
I don't see the slightest hint of that mentallity among the millions who come here illegally. If the masses changed course on this, they'd hone their logic-skills and power of assessment. And in a very short time, they'd see their government for what it really is.
And only with that wisdom would they have any real hope of replacing their comical leadership with real government.

Yes. The Mexican government is very corrupt and lessening the corruption would definitely help the economic situation south of the border. Seeing Mexico is the origin of most illegal aliens, you could probably put a huge dent in the number of people coming to the USA from Mexico.

No, the best way to stop illegal immigration is to cut out the jobs and social benefits that we give to illegal aliens. Not all illegals come across the Mexican border illegally. Over 4 million illegals came here legally with a visa, and they have just overstayed the visa. We need a system that tracks down those who overstay their visas, and we need to punish those law breakers severely.
If we had a secure ID that all workers would have to show to employers, and we enforced that law through the IRS, ICE, and the Social Security Administration we could stop most illegal immigration. Without the job and benefits magnets, illegals would not come to our country.

changing the corruption of the government will do nothing about the employment levels there. The two are not synonomous, not only that Mexico is only one of many countries from which illegal immigrants come. What are you going to do about China? England? France? Germany? Ireland? Honduras? El Salvador? Guatamala? Peru? the list goes on and on.

Uhm...we should probably focus on fixing our corrupt government before we worry about anyone else's. Illegal immigration is a ruse. It's a time honored way of dividing the people - give them a common enemy and make us focus on that. Never mind that the blood is flowing every day in Iraq...it's easier for the politicians to find a common enemy for us to worry about instead of having us focus on how corrupt the entire US government is.

While I agree that needs to happen, it probably never will in our lifetime. They've built a 3rd world government founded on the principles of lies, deceipt and when all else fails, the ALMIGHTY $.
The only way we're gonna stop illegal migration is to get tough with border policies and do a mass deportation of all illegals straight back to where they came from and enact:
"The Constitution of the United States in Article 4 - Section 4
Clause 2 which states that it requires the United States is obligated to protect each state from invasion, and, upon the application of the state legislature (or executive, if the legislature cannot be convened), from domestic violence."

Why? Do you realize that the US government/legislature is at least as corrupt as that of Mexico is and the only difference is that the US with its very advanced ,very sophisticated, better educated society, their corruption is honed extremely well and is highly covert and done with a wink and a nod etc while in Mexico ,a much less developed nation ,their corruption is less sophisticated and IN YOUR FACE .
Most important ,the corruption in countries like Mexico is so overt and "in your face" because they have yet to enact laws that with drive corruption underground into the covert world like in the US.
So if you as an American were taking a racist shot at Mexico and Mexicans with your vilifying remarks, the joke is on YOU and all you have to do check the media throughout the country every day and literally HUNDREDS OF AMERICANS are convicted of corruption of one kind or other every day at all levels of government.
Why do you think Congress never demanded that the Federal Laws on immigration on the books be enforced by all levels of law enforcement????
Simply because of two reasons.First the huge corporations and rich individuals that employ huge numbers of illegals at slave labour rates donated large sums to campaign funds and on the state and local levels, officials were just either paid off or did "quid pro quos"

I think that the only way to stop illegal immigration is for the American government to become less corrupt and enforce the laws and not give illegal special privileges and hand-outs to criminals.

I agree. If the Mexican citizens could find decent work for themselves in Mexico I doubt they'd risk their lives to come here and work as slave labor.
