I think the hotline will be overwhelmed the first weeks. It is a good idea and it is becoming obvious that local government is the one to do the job the Federal government won't do.

I'm wondering about how to attain a dual US+UK citizenship.
In short, my mom is from northern Ireland and my dad is American. They were living in Germany when I was born, so I had a UK passport at 2 years old for when we moved back to the US.
I'm wondering if because I had a UK passport at one time, there were different procedures for me to attain a dual citizenship. I should also mention I'm 19 years old now.

I'm thinking this will help end the problem, as they will leave on their own once this "magnet" ceases to exist. Worksite enforcement is far easier and cheaper than mass deportation. What do you think?

FBI: Hispanic Gangs Forming For Protection

FBI officials in New Orleans are flagging an emerging post-Hurricane Katrina crime concern: Hispanic gangs.

The FBI said many immigrant workers are paid in cash, making them easy targets for thieves.

Because of the robberies, authorities said, the newest residents are forming gangs for protection.

The first step, according to Bernazzani, is tracking down the thieves holding up Hispanic workers.

Hi,

I am quite fascinated about Singapore's beautiful environemnt, and thinking of immigrating to Singapore.

Currently I am an experienced telecom engineer(with Bachelor degree). Can anyone talk a little bit about the technical immigration policy in there? Is it immigration-friendly or not? How's the career perspective of telecom engineer in Singapore? Since it's a very small demestic market comparing to China, I am a little worried about career development.

Thanks.

I have a real problem and im pretty sure alot of other people might have it to. I agree with having rights here that is why we live in this country. But how can people come to this country and not even try to learn english. Im not just tlaking about latinos im talking about all immigrants. Whether it be polish or mexican or russian. I walked into a store in Chicago recently and couldnt find an address. I asked for help and nobody spoke english everybody just spole polish and it drove me crazy. They all looked at me like I was crazy and didnt belong there.
You can live a decent life functioning here in the States unless you learn the language.
My mother come from Mexico legally and struggled to learn english because she knew she had to in order to be successful.
Like Governer Schwarenegger said, and i totally agree. If you want to learn english you have to turn off the spanish language channels.
Input please?

In Washington, Global Horizon was fined 1.9 million dollars for firing 600 employees and then arranging Thai workers to come into the US under H2A program. TO get the Thais to come here, The company stated there is not enough local laborers, and it's why they needed to hire from outside the country.

Please answer before reading my opinion. I would like to see people's unadulterated thoughts

My opinion is that this shows that Agbusiness does not need illegal immigrants to work in their farms and that if legal immigrants are causing Americans to lose their jobs, the illegals must also. Immigrants are allowed to enter to leverage a lower standard of living for those who are here. It demonstrates that an open border won't work. That immigrants who come in to work would be treated badly, and if they refuse to tolerate the abusive environment, the employer would just dump them and hie a new wave of immigrant

First off, there is a very specific reason that this is in the immigration section. Secondly, I am not against immigration...but there is no longer LOYALTY to the USA, the Constitution or her flag any longer...if there was, then people would stand up for obeying ALL of her laws and not only pick and choose which ones that they want to follow.

You can't have it both ways.

And YES, this is a simple yes or no answer.

DALLAS — Federal agents arrested 274 illegal immigrants over five days during raids in Dallas, Fort Worth and surrounding suburbs, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Friday.

Authorities took into custody 233 men, 28 women and 13 children, said ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok.

The operation, which began Monday and ended Friday, yielded illegal immigrants, people wanted by immigration authorities and immigrants with criminal records. Of the 274 arrested, 99 had criminal convictions, ICE said.

"These operations are a critical element in removing threats to public safety," said Nuria T. Prendes, field office director for ICE's Office of Detention and Removal Operations.

Most of the arrests happened at homes. Some of those taken into custody weren't the targets of the operation but they were in the homes and were found to be in the country illegally, Prendes said.

"Many of these individuals are in the wrong place at the wrong time, many live together," she said.

Police in Dallas, Irving, Fort Worth, Arlington, Farmers Branch, Carrollton and Blue Mound along with the Dallas County constable, helped agents in the operation, according to an ICE statement.

Authorities detained people from Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nigeria, Romania and South Korea. Half of the 274 arrested have already been returned to Mexico, and the others were awaiting deportation proceedings, ICE said.

The minors taken into custody could have left voluntarily if they were from Mexico or released to a guardian, ICE officials said. Unaccompanied minors would be turned over to the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

ICE has two fugitive apprehension teams in the area that regularly target people who can be deported, officials said.

ICE should target New Haven, CT. New Haven will issue ID’s to illegal aliens starting 7/25 so the illegals can use city services. It will be a magnet and should be easy pickings for ICE.

Officials at the county jail said, on a typical day, at least 40 prisoners held there are suspected illegal aliens, which they said costs the county about $1 million per year.

“What it's costing us, we're going to ask the federal government to foot that bill, and take charge and do their jobs,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.

Jones and state Rep. Courtney Combs said Friday that they hoped new laws would target illegal immigrants and the businesses that hire them.

They said at a press conference that they would like to see stiffer penalties and higher taxes for those employers.

“After what happened in Washington where nothing got done, it's falling back on the states where we have to do things like what we're doing here today,” Combs said.

We need a freaking Law for our Freaking elected Officials to Force them to Obey the Laws that we all have to Obey, Then we need a Freaking Law that forces Law Enforcement to Enforce the Current Freaking Laws (even if Cities, Counties, States don’t make any Money from the same said enforcement) and all of the Toys that Seatbelt Citations, Speeding Citations etc etc etc have paid for should finally be implemented to enforce the Laws that we “KNOW” don’t make the Cities, Counties, States any Money.

We are fed up with Law Enforcement only being able to collect Taxes, they can start doing their job or we're all for disbanding them firing their Political handlers and starting over.

“I think that when someone comes in this country illegally, it starts a tradition or culture,... they come in illegally; everything they do from that point on is illegal. And so it's almost impossible to get a driver’s license or insurance so they just start breaking one law after another. I think it’s seductive. I think after a while ... they don't pay too much attention to rule of law that this country was established on.”

‘THERE'S NOT MUCH TO BE DONE...’

According to one policeman, 'We do a lot of this kind of thing and we can tell you that there's not much to be done about it.’

The maximum penalty the man could have faced for driving without a license, a misdemeanor, would be 30 days in jail. Driving without insurance is only a ticketable offense.

THINK ABOUT THIS:
Not only would YOUR own insurance company have to absorb the cost for repairing YOUR vehicle, but the other illegal immigrant driver was soon going to be back on the streets like nothing happened.

Why don’t they just ask American women to have more babies? They could change the tax laws to give higher deductions for children, and provide more scholarships to college for children from middle class families. If American women had 3 or more babies each, we wouldn't need any immigration.

Ok, here is what we have to do. In all future elections of all kinds, we must ONLY VOTE for anti-illegal candidates. That is the ONLY way we will ever get the border fence built, the laws enforced, and the illegals deported. Who is with me?
