I think that it is a problem with a lot of causes. There are many reasons why people come here illegally...until we address these root causes, they will still keep coming in illegally. We can grant amnesty tomorrow, or we can deport everyone tomorrow, and the problem will not go away. If we build an 10 foot fence, they will get an 11-foot ladder, or dig a 20-foot tunnel. Yes tightening up the border will help to deter people from coming over, but it is also supply and demand. As long as there are employers hiring them, they will come over. Employers look the other way because they benefit from cheap labor, not caring about all the ancillary costs to society like health care, social services, ESL programs to educate the children, etc. There are a lot of poor and desparate people all over the world, they will go to great lengths to come here even hanging onto trains and if they fall off they get their legs cut off, or sealing themselves in a truck, if something goes wrong they die of asphixiation. So it is a complex problem and we need a complex solution, there is no "quick fix" as some people think. Also we need to build better partnerships with the countries these people are coming from, to encourage jobs and economic development in their own countries, so they will stay where they are not come here!

I think that it is sad that these people were born in countries that are so poor with little opportunity to succeed that they feel the need to have to sneak into ours illegally. I personally can't blame them, they are just trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. Plus they know that if they can make it over the border there is someone who Will hire them. They stay because they are making good money (compared to what they would in their country). The jobs that they hold are the ones that us Americans do not want. Having said that it is ILLEGAL though, but then why is it so easy for them to do? Because our government is allowing the companies to hire them by Turing their backs to it. They ***** so much about the illegal immigrants yet they do not want to fix the problem (by punishing those who hire them!) The truth is our current government wants them here (they work for much cheaper than we would and do not have to provide any type of benefits to them) if we were doing those jobs there would be a greater demand for increasing minimum wage.
I can't say that I support them breaking the law and it does need to stop if for no other reason than because this country is so OVERPOPULATED!!
(Snnoogles you are truly an idiot, having more people in this country is the worst thing that could possibly happen, do you want to have fresh air and beautiful green open spaces or would you be happier living jam packed on top of each other with no nature left to enjoy?)

I see the problems associated with illegal immigration first hand because I live in Texas. There are so many illegals loitering everywhere and the liberals always say "oh, these poor people need jobs." No, they need to go back to their own damn country and try and make their country's situation better, not exploit the United States.

I think it's illegal. It is breaking the back of our country and we do not need the popuation explosion that comes with it nor the criminals from third world countries. We must deport and account for the people in this country or we will be doomed by the terrorists and the overzealous who want to own or destroy our nation.

This is not an easy question to answer, and I'm glad it is kicking around a lot these days. I hope the next election is based on this issue.
What I can definitively tell you is that no matter what side you are on, half of the people are for you and the other half is against you.
The key here is FACTS, not opinions. Get the facts, and make an intelligent decision on your own.

There's a reason they call it " illegal " .... so what is not to understand? Why would ANYONE support anything that is illegal? If you want it legal, change the law. If you can't because it's a majority cultural decision, like against drug use, underage sex, stealing cars, etc., then too bad. Get used to it. And stop ignoring it, people!

As the name said, it is "illegal". If illegal immigrants can easily become legal immigrant, it is like saying people in heaven and hell can commute. What World is that? Is there still right and wrong? So if one kill someone and go to hell, one can still commute to heaven...what is the point. So if one kill someone in one's country and fled to US illegally. Then become legal immigrant, would you still want to live in US?

Ironic that the issues of drugs was mentioned The United States has produced a generation of dope addicts, represented by all social and economic group in the US if there was not a demand for drugs in this country, there would be no need for drugs to come into this country, Drug abuse in this country is an American Problem, a Home grown American problem..

Very broad question.
1. the ones who just crossed the border should just turn around.
2. the ones who were forced here by their parents should be given the right to stay
3. the ones who overstayed their visas should be interviewed and found out if they have legitimate reasoning
4. the ones who have been here living and not paying taxes should be made to pay all back taxes and then deported

everyone is so caught up by the amnesty thing. if you grant all the ones here amnesty (ones with clean records), know whose in the country at least, and tighten secuirity in the future, whats so bad about that? labor laws of any of that bs wont get rid of all illal immigrants. it might help a little but its not the answer.
