Since I am American, I will respond in regard to the USA.
Immigration is necessary, but it MUST be controlled. We are a melting pot, and one of our strengths is diversity. I love standing side by side with people with different ideas, different experiences as long as we share some fo the same respects. That being respect for our laws, respect for our way of life, respect for our society. I understand why people come here, in search of a better life...but the thing they need to understand is how this place with a better life came to be. This brings us to many of the illegal immigrants...they seem to think that they are entitled to this land, our resources, etc. and can also just turn a little corner of the USA into a tiny version of their country of origin. If they came to improve their lives, that means change. They need to leave those habits of breaking the law, ripping people off, leeching off of society back home. They need to change and pay taxes (all of the taxes, not just sales tax, etc.)
They need to OBEY the laws (if you visit a friend, do you not obey the rules of his house, since you are a GUEST? Same applies here. Don't like the rules? GO HOME)
The illegal immigration is NOT necessary. Hillary is right, no one wants to pick lettuce, but who really WANTS to do any "job"? Sometimes we have to do work simply because there is work to be done, and that lettuce will get picked, those toilets will get cleaned, that house will get built. We know how to do these things. Our economy might have to make adjustments, but we will survive, in fact, with a large portion of the illegals GONE, we can THRIVE.

I don't think its necessary or unnecessary - I think its inevitable. The people in Mexico and Central America come to the United States for a better life, but so do people from China, Korea, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, etc. And a friend of mine is LEAVING the United States so he can be with his new love in Australia. Inevitable - necessary for some, unnecessary for others, but its going to happen until people no longer travel and that is probably going to be a very long time.

I think it has to be limited to what infrastructure like schools and hospitals, trained teachers and service funds can support with out a drop in quality of support to the people born in a country. Within that, sure, some immigration is necessary. We let in more people and more poor people than any other country in the world, and right now with our schools and services failing due to mass illegal immigration above legal quotas, I think we shouldn't do that.

Depends on the country....Canada for example has a huge country, many resources and few people....In this case, they are seeking immigrants to keep there economy vital and strong....Workers do this....China has a population problem, and few immigrants, despite this they are also a strong country, there human rights have much to be desired....In this case, it would be a bad idea....It really depends on the size, population and economy of the country....

Not necessary, but legal immigration (in limited quantities) isn't a bad thing.
But illegal immigration is a bad, bad thing.
