Why don’t they just ask American women to have more babies? They could change the tax laws to give higher deductions for children, and provide more scholarships to college for children from middle class families. If American women had 3 or more babies each, we wouldn't need any immigration.

Since when is having 3 children considered a large family? We should be providing scholarships for engineering and science to US citizens instead of producing so many lawyers, and importing so many tech workers from India.

From "Death of the West" by Pat Buchanan. The Civil Rights Act should be amended to allow employers to pay higher wages to parents than to single people, to enable one spouse to stay home with infants and toddlers and to be there when the kids come home from school.
Instead of a tax deduction for day care, so mothers can return to work, the federal tax credit for each child should be raised to $3,000.
Employers should be given tax incentives to pay higher wages to parents. We need to revive the idea of the family wage, where a single income is adequate for a secure and comfortable life for a growing family.
The burden of corporate taxation should be shifted off family businesses and farms onto the larger corporations. Corporations only collect taxes.
“Death taxes” should be abolished immediately for family business, family farms, and family estates worth fewer than five million.
To pay for these family tax cuts, then tax consumption and duties on imports.

I am sure we need some immigrants to fill positions but there is also a lot of visa abuse. Why in the world do we need more Accountants? Doctors? Programmers? I personally know at least 10 Accountants maybe more... Does any other country turn out more Accountants or business majors for that matter than we do??? I think that is amazing until I see what foreigners are paid on a visa then it all makes sense. Visa abuse is a real problem and it is much bigger than people know. Congress is looking into it but I doubt anything will happen because big business comes before everyone.

I agree with other posts, if we need to fill jobs in a particular sector we should grow those jobs right here at home, example Engineers - once the word went out that we were in desperate need of Engineers we had record enrollment in that field of study, we still need more from other countries but not for long (hopefully)....

We don't need more immigrants, we need more good paying jobs for our own people. Most of the good paying jobs have been sent out of the country to places that the employer can pay tiny wages & import back into this country & charge more for the goods than when they were made here! Huge profits for those corporations that left this country. I keep wondering how they think we are going to afford to buy these products when we don't have jobs paying a decent wage. Oh, yes, we can go in debt & pay large interest rates to the companies that also have credit cards for you to buy their product!

A large chunk (about a third) of the U.S. population are "baby boomers" who will be at retirement age soon. As is the case in many developed countries, the birth rate in the U.S. has fallen. There have to be young workers to keep the economy going and to pay for the pensions of older non-workers. Very few educated women are going to suddenly start having large families just for a measly tax break.

I agree with the politicians that america needs LEGAL immigration to support the growing needs for technological and industrial manpower. Because of the culture of american people to party first before learning skills and breaking sweat. America is behind in supply but the demand for skilled worker is high.

SO AMERICANS, ITS TIME TO LEARN THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE AND GET ROLLING.

and now they are saying we need more doctors and should lower standards. Why not give merit scholarships to US citizens to go to med school?

I agree, we should largely grow our own.

And mostly we don't 'need more workers' we need higher pay and benefits for those workers to support a family on what the jobs pay.

''Now this family contributors is without a father," he mentioned. "All this in ordinary terms brings is harm. it is an unlucky component." In all fact, what style of parent bears a baby understanding that they, the parent, would desire to be deported? an exceedingly irresponsible, uncaring parent, that’s who; a parent who had a baby for the particular purpose of making use of that baby to attempt and stay in america after getting into america illegally. The time era “anchor infant” got here approximately because of the fact of that practice.

They are being lobbied by BIG BUSINESS and paid off to vote on MORE immigration / We do not need more immigrants in this country - Did you know that contractors working on GOVERNMENT contracts hire ILLEGAL ALIENS ? - They pay them very low salaries. In other words these illegals are exploited by big business / Our borders are not protected and when border patrol agents use force, the Attorney General of the U.S., ( friend of Pres. Bush) gives inmunity to drug smugglers to testify against Border Patrol Agents !!! Watch Lou Dobbs on CNN for the latest news on this despicable attorney named Johny Sutton ?

Because we only need more low-paid workers RIGHT NOW, not in 16-22 years! Or do you REALLY believe the economy will be exactly the same two decades from now?

Are you a fool? Or just a xenophobe?

Maybe it has something to do with encouraging abortion factories near the golden arches and condom dispensers in H.S. and Jr. H.S. classrooms.
