Can the police ask you for identification eventhough you are not the driver and you did not do or say anything wrong. Isn't that a violation of your civil rights?

the law enforcement theese days are so out of wack that all you civil rights realy dont matter any more. considering most city cops and state troopers get paid extra for every ticket they wright they will go outa there way to just find the littleest violation. so i jst say fck the police. they can waste there time serchin my car. cuz there not gonaa find anything. just makes them look like an a.ss

Yes they can ask for identification, but in most jurisdictions they are not going to worry about illegal immigrants because most law enforcement agencies view it the responsibility of Immigration and Customs Enforcement to solve such issues.

no, the police can ask for identification of everyone in the car if its been pulled over for any violation.

The law has recently been upheld by the supreme court that you can be asked for your I.D. and searched if you are a passenger in a vehicle that is stopped.

They can ask anybody for id at any time, and when they do, they are going to check for wants/or warrants on you. alien status, etc..

they can also search your vehicle at any time too
