It is a bit amusing to hear some guy attempt to roll their Rs and stuff like that and bungle it all up.

Actually I notice Hispanic-American reporters who speak perfect english, enunciating and exagerating their spanish names. There was a sketch on this in Saturday Night Live a while back that was quite funny.

I don't notice WASP's doing this unless they are trying to be funny or kiss up to the Hispanic crowd.

So they sound like they're Hispanic names. Not everyone in the world has to speak Spanish, dialect and all, maybe they're so insecure about not pronouncing it properly that they exaggerate it a bit.

For the amusement factor. If you think YOU think it sounds funny, you should be standing with someone Hispanic when they try it.

It is a sign of respect to learn how to properly pronounce a persons name.

Unfortunately, most Americans don't care and don't bother.

I think what they are trying to do is pronounce the name to the best of their ability. It it not easy to pronounce words from a different language. Give them merit
