I understand that Cuba suffers from Communist oppression, but there is oppression in Mexico and Haiti as well. Why the continued preferential treatment to Cubans?

Illegal immigrants come from all over the world not just the hispanic countries and many of those people are okay with the legal immigrants from the same countries...so why do people call them racist?

I know this is a really weird question. But I was wondering, what do you have to do to actually get kicked out of America? No, I'm not planning on doing anything. But you'd have to do something REALLY extreme to be kicked of the country, right? America or any country. Like what?

Unlike Cuban migrants, who are allowed to stay in the United States if they make landfall after crossing the treacherous Florida Straits, Haitian boatpeople are generally returned home.

Cubans allowed to stay? Who said this? Why? I thought illegal meant illegal.

I am going to America on may 3rd,trouble is i have paid for this hoilday but did not know untill last month that if you have a conviction you must apply here for a visa,i have never been in trouble with the police before untill one druken night out 3 years ago,i got arrested & charged for hitting somebody.i have got an interview at the u.s embassy on the 16th of april but am still waiting for an access statement report from scotland yard which you need to take to the interview with you.but i am worried sick that it might not come in time there for i can not have the interview without it,has any body else been in this situation before?would be very grateful if you could tell me how long it all took to go through.i am more dissappointed because my seven year old daughter has being looking foward to this trip and would be very sad if we could not go i know it was my fault for being so stupied but people do make mistakes,do you think i should risk going without applying for a visa here.

I'm sick of all the damn Canadian geese coming and eating American Geese' food. They come for the winter, eat up all the good grass, leaving none for our geese. I'm sick of it. We need to start shooting them at the border. If you love America, you'll be at the Canadian border next winter with your shotguns.

The following quote is from an article on Yahoo News.

"Haitians who illegally make it into the U.S. are generally sent back. Most Cubans who reach U.S. soil are allowed to stay under U.S. policy. Last year, Coast Guard agents patrolling the waters of South Carolina, Florida and the Caribbean stopped 6,061 migrants, 769 of them from Haiti."

Does anyone know why this is the policy? Is it some sort of asylum thing since Cuba is communist?

I'm asking out of curiosity

Basically, my girlfriend and I are considerring getting married. The complication is that she is not from America and we would want to live in America together, at least for a few years. If we do not marry the next time we return to America, it is unlikely we will get another chance for a while. I know all about green card marriages, and how they grant citizenship, but what I don't know is the law. Is there something that would be preventing me from marrying her if we just walked into a chapel? Thanks for answerring!

Please answer, I need opinions for a project I have to do.

Personally, being hispanic myself I am very compassionate for immigrants (legal && illegal). I know people are breaking the law being here illegally. But if you think of all the people who need to be here to help themselves and family I definitely have a lot of respect for them. But I need responses from both sides.

Please help.

I am an American citizen. My fiance is British. We are getting married in the US in September. I've just sent in the I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance. My questions are:

1) How long does the processing normally take for this form?
2) How will they notify us that this has been accepted/approved?
3) Do we have to wait till we hear that the I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance has been approved before my fiance can apply for his VISA?
4) On average, how long will it take for his VISA to be approved? Are we talking weeks or months?

Thanks for your help.
