I hate to sound crass but I'd love to see the idiot who plead the last DUI down in front of the cameras explaining just how many others have gotten the same treatment, if they are still here illegally, and who else has been injured/killed.
Before being charged with killing a Porter woman and her pregnant daughter in a crash Sunday, Ignacio Gomez-Gutierrez had been convicted three times for drunken driving in Harris County, court records show.

His third DWI arrest, which would normally become a felony, was reduced to a misdemeanor, a move the mayor's crime victims advocate calls a "pivotal moment" that ultimately led to the deaths of Maria Ortiz, 49, and her 18-year-old daughter, Vanessa, who was five months pregnant.

Records also show Gomez-Gutierrez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was never deported after serving his time in jail in 2002, 2004 and 2005.

The victims' family members and others say Gomez-Gutierrez should never have been back on the road in the first place

ladiB812 two days ago A car crash leaves a 2-year-old in critical condition and Tulsa police say an illegal immigrant hit the car the child was in.

Officers arrested him following that Saturday crash for DUI and other traffic charges, but he’s now free on bond.

My thoughts are that he NEVER should have gotten by with it in the past - and that he should be tried for capital murder for the death of three people, one being the unborn child.

Many don't seem to understand that portions of the country are having this happen EVERY DAY in their community. Sadly, the massive invasion of illegals within our borders is making sure that such will start happening soon in other parts of the country.

I know that cases such as this are common in Texas.

The words of the daughter/sister/aunt to the victims rings so true, "We are so angry," said Sylvia Flores, 28, whose mother and younger sister died in the accident. "If everyone had done what they were supposed to do, they would still be alive. I don't want (Gomez-Gutierrez) to slip through the cracks again. He's just been given a slap on the wrist. No wonder he did it again."

What is really sick is that many think that it is only "white" Americans that are against illegals when nothing could be further from the truth. Americans of all races are sick of it.

What bothers me most is that the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement are trying to find out if this low life drunken fool on the road was ever notified by local law enforcement before releasing him from jail.

Local government needs to be accountable to its citizens as well as federal. Both totally failed the citizens with this case.

so sad. but the US dropped the ball so many times with this man. Nothing will be done until an illegal immigrant kills one of these politicians sons or daughters. Then and only then will legislation be enforced barring illegals from the US, maintaing the wall, and extra funds granted for mass deportation. We don't matter unless something affects congress. If this was a US citizen, he would probably get the death penalty but since he's illegal, maybe just some jail time and deportation. In a couple of years, he'll be back to kill some more.

first thought, what is wrong with our court system, oh yeah that has been messed up for a while now. Now if you were looking for a deport the mexican, well to me that is a different question. What about the judge that did nothing??? To me that is the one that should be dealt with. I could not help but notice that you mentioned nothing about the WHITE LEGAL AMERICAN that killed 3 of my best friends while driving drunk. Yes they are here illegally and it needs to be dealt with, but not the way that you are trying to portray all illegals. Not all of them drink and drive, alot of them do not even drink!

He will probably do a little time then be deported under a plea bargain deal. What a waste of life. Once again a criminal/illegal alien system that isn't working. If I lived in Houston I would be all over my congressman/woman and the media. Stop the madness

i think Americans need to start protecting their own country since our govt is doing nothing about it. the madness needs to stop. he took 3 lives that would still be here if he was not here in the fist place. no to illegals. we have a constitutional right to defend our country from invaders.

You know I agree that the illegal's should be sent back and I heard on the news that unless an illegal has commited a crime 6 times D.A's are reluctant to prosecute that is a bunch of bull if you ask me we should send them back as soon as we realize they are here illegally and not wait for them to commit a crime, but if allowed to stay send them back as soon as they have done something wrong and are caught

That I have seen this sort of story way too many times, yet politicians keep saying 'where is all the anger from? Never thought people here were so racist!'

actual thoughts?

cut his balls off... i don't care if he's Mexican, white, black, blue, or retarded!! someone with that lack of common sense and has no respect for human life should have their balls chopped off and then they should be shot!! no tolerance for the irresponsible.. none at all.!

THAT illegal immigrant can go back to Mexico... along with the rest of them...!!! I'm not saying they all commit crimes but the ones that do... don't need to be doing it in the U.S.

Actual first gut reaction? Why the heck didn't they make him serve his first sentence, and then deport him? Why was he allowed to stay?

I understand the need to focus on drugs, gangs, etc. - but if you know someone is here illegally, send them back! Law enforcement is just as much to blame in this one...

My actual thoughts are that he should be locked up for a good long time. If he gets out with a misdeamenor, the family ought to hunt him down and beat him to a pulp.
