There is lots of whining about how it takes SO long to enter the US legally, and about how few spots are available.

OK, then:

How about it work like this:

Anybody can apply to be an immigrant. There are no limits to numbers. Follow these steps:

a) go to your local US embassy and take a comprehensive English exam - comprehension of reading, writing, speaking, and listening to English, and getting 100%.

b) go to your local US embassy and take a comprehensive American history, current events, geography, cultural exam, and getting 100%

c) If you pass (a) and (b), then you can enter. You must pay your own way, or apply for a loan to be paid back before step (e) below. You must make your whereabouts known so you can be tracked.

d) You must get a full-time job or else be enrolled in school with a part-time job within one month

e) After three years of no criminal record, you are a full citizen. No more tracking required.

Would this work better?

My husband was in the process of getting legal for 2 years and now is faced with deportation we have 5 children in our home. He gained full custody of his 3 daughters from his previous marriage in 2004. We are christians and love the LORD. So why are some illegals aloud to get legal here and others arent its not right or fair. my husband has no criminal background and is no threat. All he wants is to be here with his family and gain legal status. he came here becasue his 3 sister came from Mexico and now are legally here. they went the same process as he did but they were never deported. So is it a gender thing our what? I need advice on how to help my husband. he has been in jail since oct19 2006. No decision has been made on his case yet. Any advice will be nice.

She comments on all the pictures I send to her. Even remembers my name through out the conversation, and answers all questions. She never asked for money until the very end when she needed help with the tickets. Had everything arranged to buy tickets online, then everything turn around and she needed to prove that she is able to buy the tickets herself and I can not.
She has given me all her passport information and has even told me to check on her at the embassy.

I am a frequent traveler to the US since 1984 . Last year when i arrived to detroit i was asked by the officer at the front desk to go to a back room to do a special registration , where they took my fingerprint and my photo and they told me that i have to do special registration everytime i enter or exit the US .
- Does this procedure still exists ?
- Can i apply for a waiver , as the registration might take up to three hours depending on the number of people waiting to register ?
- to whom should i apply for the waiver ?
- is there any conditions or requirements to get the waiver ?

When people keep saying immigrants do jobs americans won't, i find this hard to believe. I have worked in many jobs that "americans wont want." The illegals i see are working as cleaning crews and doing construction and what not.

My last job was to gut fish for 8 hours a day at a fish market. I am a full-fledged american citizen. I am also a college student, but many of my friends as well as I are doing jobs that "americans wont do."
