my working visa will be up in 5 months. i want to extend it, as i need to continue working or i can't afford to stay here for the other non working part of my stay. is there ANY way i can do this?

to be honest I seriously doubt anyone will catch up with u. The ato are alot hotter than the tax people here. All the aussies I know have worked the 2 years and nothing has happened to them. A few of them outstayed their visa too flying in and out of the smaller airports (go the UK security eh?!) But there is no way u can legally stay on unless ur employers sponsor u. And I am aware this is prob an irresponsible answer but hey, if u wanna stay go 4 it!! You can extend ur visa by 6 months if u have a return ticket but i'm not sure that u can work in that time.

I am very sorry to hear that as an Oz you need a visa to enter the UK and stay to work here. I am frankly, effin' gob-smacked. I thought that Australians, certainly those with some connection with UK, relatives etc or those who were recently transported, could come and go as they pleased.
I'm effin dumbfounded. Blimey.
My dad was at the Battle of el Alamain and told me that the OZ mob dashed past his position and stuck it into the Jerries (Krauts) real hard and by the time my dad had caught up, (breathless from smoking too much), the bloody thing was all over bar the shouting.
Any OZ can come to UK any time they like and stay as long as they like and call me an effin POM if they like. For no other reason than that described above.
