Apparently 5 million Brits live abroad, interstingly in countries like US, Australia (1.5 million!), Canada etc..

Does anyone think the following could be the reason.

1. Ridiculous house prices

2. Ridiculous tax

3. Ridiculous 100% price hike on Gas/Elec bills

4. Ridiculous immigration

5. Ridiculous policy on Human Rights. (Like the criminal on the roof who was given free KFC to protect his "human rights")

6. Ridiculous Political Correctness, like the limiting of Christmas decorations in the workplace.

I think that mostly covers it.

I left the U.K. 3 years ago and now enjoy life in Spain. I left because I could see that the U.K. was going down the tubes double quick time and the immigration problems were getting worse and worse. At least here, when they find the illegal immigrants, the Guardia Civil ship them straight back toot sweet ! ! Gas and electricity prices here are fairly cheap. The rates here are less than a quarter of what you pay in the U.K. Wages are not as high, so that must be taken into consideration. The weather is a bonus. Nearly year round sunshine. I don't think I'll be moving back to the U.K. in a hurry for the Blair Witch to rip me off.

They're leaving for all of the reasons you have described. The figure I heard was 5.5 million left in the past 12 months and a similar number returned or entered first time from wherever.

I saw one Brit of Indian descent living in New Delhi, having recently moved there from UK. His life is probably 500% better as he said, no more 'rat race' to worry about. Good for him.

I have a pal who was born here but his family are in Ghana. He goes back quite frequently. One day, so he says, he may just not bother coming back to UK.

Things must be pretty bad here. I mean we're so close to the action we cannot see what's really going on.

Actually the movement of people abroad is not new, it's just a quiet news day so lets pump out this daft story.

As many Brits return to UK each year as leave and of those who leave, probably more than half will return. There no HP sauce out there or baked beans - believe me - I know, I spent six years of my wasted youth abroad with the Brit Army.

I think it has to do with Ridiculous immigration and Ridiculous Political Correctness, like the limiting of Christmas decorations in the workplace.

People emigrate to the UK, either legally or illegally, refuse to change to the UK way of life (even though they knew what kind of a place they were moving to), and then complain that certain things offend them. These days, you can't even go to work wearing a simple cross necklace or else you can be repremanded because it could offend someone.

the weathers rubbish, the cost of living is ridiculous, the standards of living are laughable, taxes area joke, schools are overcrowded, health system is useless, beaches are dirty, its full of immigrants taking our jobs and our council houses and our beds in hospitals, house prices are no where near affordable, jobs are poorly paid if u can get one if the immigrants don't get in first, people are depressed and rude (not all!) we have a useless government. I am sad I may have 2 bring my child up here cos the prospects are bleak.

Let's see -
At home in Salisbury, Wiltshire I cost me 450 pounds for a room in a sheared house, plus council tax, plus the outrageous gas and water - in Germany in cost me 480 Euros for a two bed roomed flat with garden and garage including all bills!! Why would I want to come back?

TAX

Taxes on taxes

The government treating us like kids

The state of healthcare

The state of transport

The nanny state

The smoking bans

The drinking Laws

The police

The foreigners taking all our jobs

The cost of living

The fact that people like Abu Hamza (hook hand guy) can stand on our street corners inciting hatred at the country who was paying him £30,000 a year in benefits. When a White person does it they get arrested for public order offences.

Our lapse immigration Laws (Blair needs a pair of Cojones)

Should i go on or is it getting clearer

1 High and ever increasing tax
2. Over population with all its resultant problems
3. Ludicrously high house prices
4. PC gone mad.
5 Higher wages and lower cost of living in many destination countries.

Too much taxation to feed the indolent immigrant dependents on the welfare state.

Too much immigration, driving up the prices of houses even though there is a scarcity of land.

the people that are emigrating to the UK now, are mainly from the old Eastern countries that have just joined the EU, where the average monthly wage is around £150. compare that with what they get when they get here. answers it all really
