Immigration - November 2006

I'm just wondering if the same people who support NAFTA are the same people who are so vigorously anti-illegal immigration that they want to round up all the Mexicans & send them back to Mexico.

I wonder if these people realize that one of the reasons we have so many illegals from Mexico crossing our border is because of a direct result of the consequences of NAFTA.

Agricultural prices in Mexico went down because of the heavy agricultural subsidies given to U.S. farmers. Trade unions in Mexican urban areas lost their influence as a direct result of NAFTA as well. The vast majority of Mexican illegals are farmers who were forced off their land by bankruptcy in response to the disproportionate agreement in favor of the U.S. and Canada, leaving Mexico's main exports sinking year after year.

The free-flow of people across the U.S.-Mexico border was actually supposed to be a part of the 2nd phase of NAFTA, which was to be fully implemented by 2010. 9/11 changed that, of course -

The US sucks for immigrants. Period.
Dont make the mistake and come here or worse yet stay here.
Once I get my PhD, I am getting out of here.
Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Sweden, Belgium.
These countries and many more top the US in quality of life, and are very liberal and open to immigrants.

The US is not mine and will never be in my lifetime.

It didn't take long for amnesty push to begin. At his first
post-election news conference, President Bush seemed cheerily
optimist about the "good chance" he now has to pass the
so-called "comprehensive" amnesty bill:

"I think we have a good chance [at passing the amnesty
bill]. Thank you. It's an important issue and I hope we
can get something done on it. I meant to put that in my
list of things that we need to get done."

What do you guys think about this?

Hey don't you think that America belongs to no one? Don't you think that fighting like this is too uncivilized? Cause this is how Cain and Abel fought for a stupid rock and cursed all humanity for almost for all eternity. Shouldn't we handle this immigration subject with intellegence? I will not be reading your responses cause i am leaving forever. BYE

I think that once you have your college degree, its time to jump ship and bail out of the US with its xenophobe, homophobe, backwards mentally. They are like spoiled brats on steroids.
The US and its citizens will never change.

To Ireland or Switzerland, Norway or Sweden.

The cold I can cope with, the racist hicks I cannot.

I've been assigned to a debate on immigration, where I'm speaking pro- the motion. So, not only do I want to hear any suggestions on the positive aspects of immigration or emigration, but also any negative opinions or views you might have on how it affects the country, so I can be prepared for the arguments of the opposing side. Thoughts?

The illegal aliens have support groups. For example they all live in the same houses. until they move on to jobs offered by Big Corporations. The Corporations have management that speaks Spanish.

Some Corporations even offer bonuses for recruitment of more illegal aliens. I remember reading in U.S. News in 1988 a hog plant was offering $150.00 to anyone bringing in new illegal aliens. If the illegal aliens got hurt on the job. They got no worker comp or benefits, they just got fired.

Illegal aliens are like an underground organization. They take care of their own “Human Capital”.
Some of the illegal aliens are working for $ 3.00 an hour.

Many Hispanics have taken out Minority Government Loans at low interest rates to start businesses. Those loans belong to America’s minority and poor and women. They will hire their relatives and will let them live in their homes as long as they can work them cheap and make a healthy profit.

If multiculturalism is so good why have lots of other countries not adopted it?

In 1971, Canada became the first country in the world to adopt an official Multiculturalism Policy. This policy provided for programs and services to support ethnocultural associations and to help individuals overcome barriers to their full participation in Canadian society.

Austrailia is the only other country to adopt a policy that reeks of multiculturalism.

"The drugs were found on Tuesday after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement tried to pull over a light-colored pickup, which sped off to the house, the agency said in news release. The driver ran away and wasn't immediately caught.

Officers found marijuana residues in the truck. They searched the home and found 5,533 pounds of marijuana."

So what are we talking about here, bales, like in a barn?

And how are we going to stop this sort of thing?

This is an interesting viewpoint from Sinagpore of our recent elections. What do you think?

http://www.rsi.sg/english/callfromamericawithjanadasdevan/view/20061108180559/1/.html

"Who lost the US midterm elections? The party of George W. Bush, of course. Who won? The party of George H.W. Bush, his father, a traditional Republican. Neo-conservative Republicans lost; conservative Republicans – who call themselves Democrats now – won. Let me explain....."

What do you think?

I don't understand what is wrong with the term "illegal alien". I have heard people say that 'no one is illegal' and that they 'aren't from a different planet so they aren't aliens". But they are breaking our immigration laws, illegally, and they aren't citizens, so by definition they would be 'aliens'. Any input or reasoning the other way on this issue?
