Ms. Angelou endorses Hillary Clinton. I respect Ms. Angelou as a writer and a person of substance.

wouldn't it be a scream to hear the republicans whine and cry if a democrat wins the Presidency and granted Al Gore III a pardon?

or is getting high a lot more offensive to republicans than

nullifiying our justice system?

I actually was intrigued when he first showed up on the presidental radar and found his mannerism and appearance appealing enough for a minority to actually have a chance at winning the presidency. Then came the thing about his $1000+ unpaid parking tickets he left behind at
Harvard. Not a big deal right? But it seemed to show something about his character. Then came the so called "leaked" emails concerning Hillary, and not just the one concerning the indians. There have been a few that Obama would let "leak" for a few days and then deny ever knowing about them.

This guy seems too sneaky for the presidency. Care to add any insight? This is just my opinion and could be changed if these issues were clarified.

I am not the author of this but I think it is poignant, and funny.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing ?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."

Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA." The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, " Welcome to the Republican party."

I was just reading the answer's posted to Barack Obama's question about involving people in the democratic process and I must say that I was immensly taken back by the immaturity and the ignorance that plagues our country. Responses like "Kool aid anyone" or that "Obama is a Christian Jew and Amarican hater" (with no standing evidence what so ever) is completly and utterly ....stupid. There is no other word for it. Go ahead bash me all you want but please ... grow up. It scares me that people this ignorant are able to vote. So I BEG the mature, well rounded people please involve yourself and try to outwash these idiots that give America a bad wrap.

I am planning to live in the UK for a while still as I am going to university here, but I would like to be able to vote in US elections. I don't think that I would be able to vote in the smaller elections but I know that I can at least vote in the presidential elections.
So how do I register to vote? I think another problem is that my parents don't live in the US anymore, and so I don't really have what might be called a "home" there. Any advice?
Thanks very much.

It will be interesting to see how pliable the American mind can be when it comes to media and marketing regarding Obamma in the current presidential campaign. Just how far will we be pushed towards actually CONSIDERING this guy as a leader and figurehead for America? Hey, I guess we can make mistakes...afterall the terrorists that flew planes into the twin towers just seemed like ordinary people, right? Students and immigrants just trying to make a new life? Yeah right! We must be ever vigilant, but not paranoid. A hard balance to strike - we are all guardians of freedom. But man people C'MON! Lets have some common sense when it comes to our country's leadership. I'm not pleased with most of the things Bush has done. But like it or not he represents America through and through...he's tough, stubborn, ambitious, self-righteous, passionate and a little greedy. Would we be any different? I think NOT. Lets get back to reality people and not be sheep!

I think that they would win hands down. You would see the field get small in a hurry on both sides (GOP and DEMS). Not sure why the media has not put any kind of spin on it yet.

Currently, I move to this country from Puerto Rico. We have some split issues with our status relations with USA. Currently a 50% of our population like to be part of this Country. Why? Because we pay USA taxes in our country and not have the benefit to have participation about USA elections.

Clinton as President because she will win.....and Bill Richardson as Vice President. I feel in my heart we are ready for this. Clinton has lots of the hispanic and black votes. Bill has plenty of hispanic and white votes. I feel that they can do great for America. Together they can put forth equality in the black , white and hispanic community. I see it as a positive turn for out our America. I am voting Hillary as president and I do bet Bill will be Vice.

In the early stages of the 2000 election John McCain presented a clear and present danger to GWB's election hopes. Though the Republican lobbyists brought out the big gums after McCain won in early states and smeared him. The lobbyist already had their candidate chosen. It was Bush and he won. McCains theories , if put in place throughout the last eight years would have secured Iraq 1 year post invasion and would probably have collapsed the economy of the Iranian extremist by now. I'm betting Hillary gets the nod even if Obama is the more popular candidate due to lobbyist.

I heard that he was going to run for Mayor of London as well - we're considering moving to London just to vote for him! Why don't the Tories let him stand? He's just so wonderful ... he'd sort out the Foreign Policy, Immigration and Terrorism like a shot. What do you think??

Lets keep in mind that they are virtually tied in general election match-up polls. In addition to this, there's a strong possibility that if Giuliani were nominated by the Republicans, he'd be able to capture NJ and NY, two traditionally Democratic states that have huge electoral vote counts.

Knowing this, who do you think would win?

I understand some states allow people who are registered as independents or un-affiliated to vote in the Republican and?/or democratic primary.

Which states do something like this?

I am an independent voter and generally dislike BOTH parties. I never understand why a republican criminal like Libby gets support from fellow republicans anymore than I don't understand why Democrats love a lying cheat on your wife Bill Clinton. That being said, please explain to me why a party that is tough of crime believes letting off someone who outed a CIA agent is a "victory" for the Republican party? Bush has railed against "activist judges", but then he goes against one of his first judge appointments and removes the sentence, a sentence that was the norm for the crime.

I have never been a huge Bush fan in the first place but have always understood he stands by his convictions, but I have never understood why this case never got more press. To me, its a big deal that you would out a CIA agents cover just to discredit the agents husband. Its bully politics and now Bush pardons Libby. Other than being a joke, it smacks of Nixonism. To me, this was the last straw with Bush.

If congressmen are restricted to $5,000 donations from PACs how can lobbyists donate hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars to them? For example in the movie Sicko I saw in the preview that it shows the amounts of money given to a particular congress person by lobbyists and it was numbers such as $400,000, $130,000 ... How is this possible? How is this public knowledge and the congressmen don't get in trouble for accepting over the legal limit of political donations?

When you add it all up... "the people" don't make the decisions in this country anymore. Geo. H W Bush pardoned 6 Iran-contra criminals and one of them was never on trial (Poindexter or Weinberger) because they didn't want him to talk... and then the whole "death" of Edgar Casey is very strange. Nobody did anything about it then, and they won't be doing anything about it now. Get used to it. There's more to come. Hang on tight.

I think he is a joke. When asked what his response would be to another attack on American soil, he gave a "Katrina-esque" answer saying he would make sure first reponders were on call blah blah blah blah...

...and what about that gay book he wrote? "The Audacity of Hope"? Come back to me when you write a book called "How to Kill 10,000 Terrorists" and maybe I'll take you seriously.
