My first job of the day would be to get someone on here 24/7!
At least some on here speak sense and give their view on what should/should not be done! After all, you are representing the people! Allegedly!

Since I'm only an expert in a very limited number of things, I would ask experts and those with great experience in their fields for their opinions. Would also try to educate myself as much as possible and then, with all available input, come to a reasonably rational decision.

Whenever possible, would put things to a public vote, as that is the core of democracy.

I'd do both. I'm not quite sure what you mean. I think I'll listen to the people(not behind the scenes, openly listen) and put it to the public vote. I won't be a Dictator. I'll be Democratically put in.

I would listen to all sides. Then make my own decisions.
It all boils down to balancing things such as self sacrifice and disappointment with good conscience and what is best for the majority - Only if the majority is itself worthy of these sacrifices. The Minority deserves as much consideration. If an election is wanted by a good majority, then That decision is easier.

I would love to put it to the public vote.

However, would that mean we would have to hold a referendum on every law or decision that had to be made? If so, this would be both impractical and expensive!

You'd have to listen, it wouldn't be possible to put everything to public vote and the public will not have the specialist professional information to base a decision on.

I would always seek a public consensus. People behind the scenes can be poisonous to you.

you must listen to the grass roots,
the people behind the scene as you call them,
will often as not tell you what you want to hear,
not necessarily the truth.

Listening to people isn't necessary good either. We as people never look for what is best for the country rather our own personal agenda
