I don't know if he will be a good President or not. What I will say is this. To be a good President, his political performance before 9/11 is a much better benchmark. After 9/11 we can judge his crisis management but that's only a part of running a city or a country. What about his economic policies, foreign relations ability, etc etc etc. Just managing 9/11 does not qualify as President.

Winstone Churchill, my life long hero, managed the war effort brilliantly. Pre war, he was very limited. His one Premiership post war, was not his greatest time in history.

Some people seem to shine in a crisis, Yes he did great things with crime in NY etc., but is he good enough to be President, and should be base our opinion on this performance during the 9/11 crisis. No we need to decide who should be President on more then managing a one off crisis

No. And not just no, hell no. For several reasons

A) He doesnt have nearly the experience necessary to be president. I dont care what city he was mayor of or when, its not nearly enough experience for someone who wants to be president. So he can beef up his resume and come back in a few years.

B) He mocks and attacks people who disagree with him constantly. I dont admire or respect him for that. Hes far too autocratic for my taste.

C) Hes calculating and opportunistic. His way of using 9-11 politically on a nearly constant basis thouroughly disgusts me.

D) Hes has no real plans for anything. And the ones that he does have, I completely disagree with him on.

He had terrible approval in New York before 9/11. His only talent seems to be reminding people that he was mayor on 9/11.

I'm going to have to side with the nae-sayers about Rudy Giuliani. He is more of a Democrat/Liberal than any kind of Republican. He has been trying to "Talk the Talk" lately, but his past words/deeds/actions speak to what he is really about. Yes he did an OK job after 9-11, but one crisis does not a leader make.

I will be voting for Mr. Fred Thompson in 2008. He is a true Conservative, in the mold of Ronald Reagan....who was truly, one of our greatest presidents ever.

I urge anyone who is looking for Our next great leader to check Mr. Thompson out....and decide for yourself.

T.S.

I wouldn't vote for him. And I think he's too far left to get the Republican nomination.
Basically the only thing he has going for him is 9/11. Had 9/11 not occurred he would not even be considered as a nominee.

Yes. He'll also hire the Foggy Bottom Boys (from "Brother, Where art Thou") to be in his campaign, just like that crazy governor from the movie.

He was a great Mayor for New York, but as a Republican, he'll be terrible for your country.

I agree. He will have trouble getting nominated though. His positions on social issues aren't popular with the Republican base.
